Linugos, unquestionably and unequivocally, is off the beaten path and can be described therefore, by this traveler definitely, to be an incredible find. Hardly any tourists, foreign or local, ever set foot this way and this far. And surprisingly, the village is a mere half hour away from the provincial city of Gingoog. So, the entire place literally is off the beaten path. It takes no time at all to see everything there is to see in the village but be warned, the unmitigated hospitality of the locals will thoroughly slow down and delay your tour of the town, if not change your mind from leaving so soon. The village is ringed by beautiful hills and mountains which are grand diversions for one so keen on hikes. You can pay some village boys a couple of bucks to accompany you or do trekking safely on your own under the locals sure approbation and goodwill. An excellent walk within town is to the direction of the town's municipal hall atop the hill overlooking the village, the surrounding hills and to the vast expanse of the Pacific ocean. Or you can visit the enormous fishpond located slightly outside of the main village across a mangrove river where they cultivate and raise for commercial purpose the suculent indigenous Milk Fish. It's privately owned but the owners will gladly offer a tour. From here, on the coast, you have nothing but miles and miles of empty beaches giving one the immeasurable sense of magnanimity.
