The beaches in Barangay Igpit, Opol are generally open to the public and native cottages and tables for rent are very inepxensive. The area is frequented mostly by locals from Cagayan de Oro City which is just minutes away. On the higher end is Lauremar (a hotel with pool and restaurant) and but the more popular are Ro-an or Yasay resorts (which offer only native tables/benches and open huts for rent; no restaurants).
Although not as pristine since the area is becoming quite populated and the nearby rivers are making the water not crystal clear, the very shallow slope and the waves make it a fun and exciting place to be. Sunsets are very beautiful.
Best time to go is early morning (6AM) or early afternoon (5PM).
Very few know but Opol is home to one of the country's largest commercial Ostrich and Crcocodile Farm. It is found in Barrio Malanang, just a few kilometers via rough roud (15 minutes) from the town proper. No public transportation available. The farm is enclosed so upon reaching it's gate, just tell the security guard you want to see the ostriches. There is a small entrance fee and a guide is available to take you around the farm. Apart from ostriches and crocodiles, they also have a collection of other farm animals. You can also buy ostrich meat and eggs. Best time to go is in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is not that hot (they are open though during office hours only from 8AM to 5PM). The place is great for kids. Plan to spend about an hour.
