When travelling through the mountain border of Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya, the Dalton Pass takes about 1 hour to traverse (or it may take 1 1/2 hr when heavy traffic of loaded trucks share the road with you at the same time) and a good respite awaits you at the other end of the road in Sta Fe, N.V. Either which way you come from, Fontanilla's Restaurant is a MUST stop for the traveller in this long stretch of the road when you got to reload your grumbling stomach or just for that much-needed coffee break
Not more than 2 years yet in operation, the restaurant serves food that are cooked the Ilocano way. No more, no less. Open huts with tables by the elevated river bank at the compound's perimeter could be occupied for a more relaxing ambiance.
The restaurant has a souvenir and pasalubong shop as well. The parking area under a big acacia tree could accomodate about a dozen vehicles.
Favorite Dish: Sayote tops salad with tomato and bagoong.
Dinengdeng and Pinakbet.
Pangat at nilagang maliliit na isda.
