Usually the boat from Manila to Puerto Princesa will dock for two hours in Coron, just enough time to disembark and have a walk round the town and grab some snacks. Be careful to embark on time as they won't wait for you. The pier is on the outskirts of town but you can walk to the left and find some shops and eateries. The boats that take this route are Negros Navigation and Superferry, but they stopped running for a year or so, the Superferry has started the voyage again but check in Manila for the latest information.

It is one of the two lakes in Coron Island that is frequented by tourist. They said it is a freshwater lake but for me it is a little salty. The Lake can be accessed by a little hike along wooden stairs built on a tricky limestone path. The lake is very quiet and clear with stunning limestone formations that enclose the lake.
I have my life vest and snorkeling gear that is why I managed to see how it look like under. It’s very deep in the middle what you can see is total darkness so I stayed near the wall. I watched group of divers going deeply down the lake, hope they won’t meet a big Barracuda along the way. Actually I thought I could see some Barracuda but I didn’t. There is not much marine life I just don’t know in the deeper part.
You need to swim here to enjoy the other side of the lake not much to see if you will just stay on the narrow path.
The entrance fee here is 100 pesos.

It's very different . The architecture and design. This is the only house in Coron built this way. She's the owner of Villa Hermosa Guesthouse. Just drop by to the Guest house and tell her that you wanted to see her house and she's more than willing to show you her pride.

God must've been in a mood when He made Coron, Palawan. The water is calm. These are the famous waters where the PEARL FARMS are found. The waters are so calm, that oysters can be bred into making perfect pearls. But then as compared to the calmness of the water, the cliffs all look raw and angry. Like they were struck with lightning.
THIS PLACE IS RAW NATURE. Untouched and pure. Locals are very protective of the place. No littering. I've seen guides literally leave their group to dive down into the water if they spot a piece of garbage or plastic trapped among the corals. They know what PRESERVATION means.
It's an absolute feast for the eyes. The entire time I was there, whether we were snorkeling, climbing and hiking, soaking in the water, or swimming thru tunnels... my eyes were everywhere.
I remember being in the hidden lake (where you had to climb up a mountain and down to get to the secret lake), and floating quietly in the middle. I just had to look and look and look. The place was beautiful.
I've selected some shots to share with you so you'll know what I'm talking about. They don't do the place justice though.
But I love the place. I'll go back there sometime. Just so I can appreciate nature at it's raw best.
TIP: If you go island hopping, ask your guides to feed you lunch on the islands. :) YUMMM!!! Plus, bring lots of bread. Stop over at a local bakery and buy tons. You'd appreciate them once you go snorkeling. The fish will come from all over... and the colors and patterns on them are dizzying! You must feed the fishies... they expect it. :) Think of it as your TIP to the finned folk... it's their talent fee for swimming around you. :)

I hiked Mt. Tapyas around 5 PM after I had my pansit merienda at Jackie's Restaurant. I reached the summit where the big cross is located in 30 minutes but some will take 1 hour to get into the top, it depends on your level of fitness. I am still healthy though I was soaked in my own sweat. I lose my extra pudding along the way :) It is around 723 big steps so you must have the determination. The trail was cemented with railings that you can use for support when you are tired. At the summit I saw the whole view of the little town of Coron and the bay with islands and islets around. I also love the sunset over Sangat Island. It is advisable to climb early in the morning or around 5 Pm in the afternoon. There is no entrance fee and open 24 hours.

I like exploring a place I've never been even by just walking day or night. I tried the food of some restaurant and drink beer in some bars. I visited the Coron town hall, Plaza, centennial shrine, lualhati park, Coron public market and some resorts. I just love doing this because I might see or discover something different that might be helpful to other tourist.
By the way I found an internet cafe along the highway near the Coron Baptist Church.

Bulog Uno or Waling-waling and Banana island are owned by one person Ms. Violeta Gallego.
What I like on this small paradise is the view of the Coron Island from afar and making it as background with the rock formation on taking photos, it is just perfect. The island is connected to Malaroroy Beach by a sandbar that you can cross if you want to. The water is clear like the other islands in the area. Bulog Uno, dos and Malaroroy are part of the Bulalacao Island Group in Calamines.
There is one cottage for people who want to have their lunch in the Island. Bulog Uno and Bulog Dos are visible from Malcapuya View Cliff and Banana Island.
Bulog dos is a private island with a small resort and I think the entrance fee is much higher.

Banana Island also known as Dicabaluan Island, it is the next destination after Malcapuya Island if you are not going to visit the Chiron Island for its Sandbar. You can actually see this island from Malcapuya. The sand is fine but the beach area is much narrower than in Malcapuya. Their beauty are distinct from each other. Banana resort offers more cottages and one can stay overnight if you want to. It is owned by Violeta Gallego and you can contact her at 09214741607 if you want to stay on their Nipa hut inspired accommodations.
This is the farthest island I think if we are talking about sea attractions in Coron but if you are brave enough to face the wavy sea you can go farther to Culion island( former leper colony) and the beautiful Ditaytayan Island.
The entrance fee here is 200 pesos inclusive of the Bulog uno Island.

Malcapuya Island is one of the must see island in Calamianes. It is about 2 hours from the port near Coron market. This Island has become a famous stop for its beaches and waters for snorkeling. The distance and inaccessibility made the island and its surrounding waters remained quite undeveloped making the beauty unspoiled.
Malcapuya Island has the better attributes because of a longer and wide white sand beach on its southern shore; there is also beach on its western and northern side.
Everything is perfect for me from the wide beach area, the crystal clear water and the abundant marine life on the area around the View Cliff. In fact I did 2 rounds of snorkeling around the area and saw small ray and about 1 foot of small specie of shark. Don't miss this opportunity. There are cottages for those who will take their lunch on this island. I love the hammock and I took a nap because I'm too tired.
The entrance fee here is 100 pesos.
