El Nido Things to Do

This is Tour C time and time to discover more rock formation and more amazing views in El Nido! Did you know that part of the movie “Bourne Legacy” was shot and filmed in the islands of Dilumacad and Matinloc?First stop is the Hidden Beach which is famous. Unfortunately, the waves were being wild and the current of the water looks strong. Most of...

  • Tour A

Head to The Alternative Inn’s tour guide, Kuya Edward (kuya means big brother in tagalog) and ask if he still have seats for you on his daily island tours. He was going to do Tour A on that date and luckily there were available seats for us! The tour costs Php 1200 but I used my haggling tactics and paid Php 11o0/pax. This fee does not include the...

  • TOUR B

Actually, my first choice was to go Tour C, but because of the strong Siberian winds that brought big waves to El Nido seas, the guides advised me to switch to Tour B. I really thank them for informing me of lesser waves in this tour. And pardon me for not so adventurous at sea.The waves was really strong that it made me too scared and too...

  • Italian deli

Have a nice dinner after the tour at the Altrove that serves brick baked pizzas and sumptous pastas. Be sure to be there early as there are plenty of tourist lining up to fill their stomachs with real good food. Hungarian pizza and pennes are real great! The servings are good for sharing!

There are couple of nice bars that we like in El Nido. One is Pukka Bar where a Reggae band performs every night at 8pm. This restaurant/bar is pretty famous so be sure to be there early so you can have seats! Another one that we love is Sea slugs where we ate our breakfast in the morning and drink our bourbons at night. Unfortunately there were...

  • Disco in El Nido? Hell yeah!

You certainly didn't come here to party, but if you're tired of sitting at the beach with Bob Marley and tiki lights you can try the "Boom Disco House" or the "New Zone Disco And Karaoke Bar (Formerly Hardrocks)". Both are what I'd call a Filipino countryside disco, the music is loud and the alcohol flows. You'll meet a lot of locals there, it's...

Yes, no skimpy swimsuit on El Nido town's beach. It's really not like Boracay or other places. Normally, when you are on this beach, you wear shorts and shirt over your bikini. You just take this off when you are on your secluded island or beach :)

El Nido Warnings and Dangers

  • SALTY WATER

The water situation is not so good now in El Nido as the water that is supplied to most of the town is extremely salty, and if frozen to make ice it becomes a little spongy. Never drink the water from the faucet, always purchase bottled water.

  • Some Roads are Still Under Construction

The road to El Nido seemed to be in very good condition during the first 3 ½ hours of the trip. El Nido Sports & Outdoors

  • by oxalis Updated Nov 28, 2007

I rented a kayak from the shop (the owner is a Frenchman) under O.G.G. Pensione for P$1,000 per day. In the afternoon, we (me, my guide and several other kayakers) were stuck on the beach opposite Bukal island because of the sudden violent wind (a typhoon was approaching). We were resued by a pumpboat in the late evening . The rescue crew who risked their lives struggling for several hours in the wind and darkness to save us was only paid P$1,500. However, the kayak owner charged me P$2,000 for the loss of a life jacket (which was not really my fault, as I swam across from Bukal island to the beach on Cudlao island, and my guide was supposed to carry everything over in the kayak). The kayak owner also collected P$500 from each of the four kayakers who had been rescued to pay the rescue team. Very unfair!
