Balsahan Natural Pool

by JaneCajuguiran

Inside the Iwahig Penal Colony is a natural pool (actually a stream) called the Balsahan Natural Pool. The place has cottages and the only food available are the broiled native chicken (which cost 150 each good for 2 to 3 persons) and fresh coconuts (fresh taken fron the tree which costs 10 pesos each). The flavorful chicken takes about 1 hour to cook because these are live chickens which they dress and cook while you wait. But you can bring fish and other food for broiling and have the inmates do the cooking for you. Rice costs 100 pesos for a whole 3 liter cooking pot (yes, they serve it in the pot where it was cooked). The cottage is rented out for 100 pesos. I was told that should we choose to bring our own food and have these cooked, we'll just have to pay the cook a small sum (although it was not mentioned how much). That would be a good bargain since seafood in Palawan is quite...

Alternative tours in Puerto Princesa

by enamorado7107

I had the opportunity to meet Rommel Carbonell of Island Divers. They offer dolphin watching and firefly watching. So far, none of the local travel agencies offer these tours except for them. Rates are around 1200 PHP to 1500 PHP per person inclusive of land transfers, boat ride and meals. These are short tours but nevertheless the most unforgettable tours I had of Puerto Princesa. The firefly watching tour takes you to Iwahig River. You will certainly have one of the best views of the sunset and of the city on your way to the River.

A refreshing view

by asianbelle

The road between PP and Sabang is 40% cemented and 60% very rough and bone-jagging. A pitstop was installed along the way where you can stretch a bit or visit the bathroom. To make it more appealing, a view deck was built where you can have a panoramic view of the sea and mountains. Take this opportunity to take pictures.

Limestone

by asianbelle

Near Sabang, mountains with limestone can be viewed from the road. We asked our van driver to stop so we could take photo. These same limestone cliffs can be seen from the plane.
