Exploring El Nido Islands

by barbskie

The islands have an area of scenic landscape and high biodiversity. Within the bay, there are numerous islands and islets that offers a wide range of option for marine and land activities. Wherever you are in El Nido, just arrange a boat trip or more with your hotel or resort and begin to explore. You may have a private tour for you alone or join a group which is more fun.

Sabang - Underground River

by mandybailey

I highly recommend a day trip to the Underground River in Sabang. The river was fascinating and the surrounding scenery is beautiful. The whole day was so much fun, we had a delicious lunch in Sabang and then relaxed on the beach which was secluded and peaceful, a beautiful rugged beach - no tourists just locals going about their day. We enjoyed our trip so much because we had a great guide so choose yours wisely! I recommend Joseph from Floral Travel, they have an office near Puerto Princessa airport. A very funny guy!

Hunda Bay Island Hopping

by enail

If you want to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Puerto Princesa, don't miss the Hunda Bay (not Honda) islang hopping. In our trip, we went to Pandan and Snake Islands. Travel time is about 30mins from the Hunda Bay pier via rented boats. There you can see white sand beaches, corals and various kinds of fish! Snorkling, aside from swimming, is the best activity you can do on these islands. It's more convenient if you have a travel agency where they will be the one to arrange the transportation, fees and others. In our case, we had 3B's Tours & Travels. They charge P1,350/pax inclusive of van rental (w/ transpo from airport-guesthouse-hunda bay and vice versa), boat rental and lunch.

Baker's Hill Palawan

by miguel_arcangel

If you wish to see diddy plants, birds and their emblem- the peafowls, and buy some goodies, Baker's Hill in Palawan is one of the itineraries of your city tour in case you booked one.If you're traveling via local transportation (a tricycle ), one way trip will cost you 70 - 75 pesos one way trip, about 15 minute drive from Poblacion, make your driver wait if you don't like to have difficulty leaving the area since there are no tricycles roving, 150 pesos for a round trip isn't expensive. And don't forget to give a tip since tricycle drivers in Puerto Princesa are helpful enough to guide you, tell you stories AND patient enough to wait for you. :-)

Ugong Rock

by miguel_arcangel

Ugong Rock is a 75-foot limestone formation in the midst of farmlands and karst forests or forests growing on limestone substrate in Barangay Tagabinet, a once sleepy community of indigenous peoples. The word “ugong” stands for the reverberating sound (similar to a bell) that stalactites produce inside the cavernous structures of Ugong Rock when hit or pounded with the knuckles or the palm. The tour in Ugong Rock is actually a climb to the top of the limestone formation. Tourists need to wear a helmet to prevent head injuries while squeezing themselves through holes and cracks, bring along a bottle of cold soda or juice, and protected pockets to prevent the camera from hitting the hard limestone while actively climbing up a steep incline midway in the tour.Ugong Rock is one great side trip after visiting the Underground River National Park.

Sabang is a small village in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It is used as an entry point to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. Resorts and Inns are now sprouting to serve the growing number of tourists. Expect a picturesque bay, a long coastline of fine white sand, clear waters, plus the beach is not crowded.Sabang is a visually beautiful place, a secluded beach in Puerto Princesa.

Palawan Subterranean River National Park

by miguel_arcangel

The most popular activity in Puerto Princesa is nonetheless the tour to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Sabang, about 2 hours away from downtown Puerto Princesa City. The underground river day trip is P1500 and includes all costs - hotel pickup, park entrance fees and buffet lunch on the beach, that is if you booked your tour with your agency or the hotel you are in.The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park was inscribed to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s of (UNESCO) List of Natural World Heritage Sites. Inscription to the list confirms the exceptional and universal value of the Site that deserves to be protected for the benefit of all humanity.

Palawan Museum

by miguel_arcangel

The Palawan Museum was created in 1991 with a vision of serving as a center and repository of relics and artifacts in Palawan, as a genuine source of the rich natural and historical legacy of Palawan and as a source of a growing collection and reference on Palawan’s cultural heritage. The museum badly needed attendants to protect the relics and artifacts. These precious relics must be preserved and must not be touched, especially that a group of people and students touring the museum might be careless and might scratch or worse broke those artifacts.A working security camera must be installed everywhere inside the building for security purposes.

Named after Dr. Higinio Mendoza, war hero of Palawan. His resistance to Japanese control led to his execution. On the other side of the park is the amphitheater where numerous presentations and gatherings were held year long.

Plaza Cuartel

by miguel_arcangel

Plaza Cuartel has a colorful history because of the events that happened here during World War II.The plaza has now a memorial marker for the American Prisoner of War and contains the name of eleven prisoners of war (POW) who managed to survive the horrible massacre on December 14, 1944.A military fort in the past, a garrison of Spaniards, overtook by Americans and then by Japanese. It has dungeon where American Prisoners of War was caged and burned to death by the Japanese. You can easily locate the eerie bunker but now closed to public view for safety reasons. It was in 1997 when it was renovated and transform the place to a leisure park.
