Boat

by enail

Used for island hopping as well as transpo going to the Underground River from Sabang. Boats used for Hunda Bay island hopping are bigger than those in Sabang. Boats in Sabang can accomodate a maximum of 6 persons. Paddle boats are used during the Subterranean River tour. It can accomodate 8-10 persons depending on the size of the boat. Dont' really know the rates coz during our visit, boat rentals were already included in the tour package.

Van

Ideal for long distance travel, e.g. going to Sabang for the Subterranean River and to Hundo Bay for the island hopping. There are many vans for hire in the city. Better contact a travel agency. Rates range from P1,000-P1,500 depending on your itinerary.

El Nido on a Budget

by lady_nomad

We only paid around Php300/pax for a one-way trip to El Nido (February 2008). Trips to and fro El Nido, Taytay, Roxas, Puerto Princesa are on a daily basis. Although the road was dusty and the bus is shabby, I must say that going to El Nido wouldn't be any cheaper as this. Besides, the bus didn't overheat despite the 8-hour journey. Just be patient for a few stopovers and crowded seats inside (and on the roof) plus the dust. Follow-up question

by drigomeister

On second thought, I am considering staying for 2 nights at port barton and then traveling to roxas for a 1 night stay at coco loco. Do you think this is a do-able plan? Or will it be too tiring?I understand port barton is just an 1-hour land travel away from roxas. Is this correct?Further, does anyone know if I can get a ride out of port barton to roxas at around 11am? What type of transportation is available - bus or jeep? Thanks!

Getting Around Puerto Princesa

by mandybailey

When you arrive in Puerto Princesa, if you need a tricycle driver to get you to your hotel or to take you into town, look out for Juan. He picked us up on our first night in Palawan, we took his mobile number and from then on he took us round in his tricycle wherever we wanted to go, whenever we wanted to go there, all 4 of us! He was a really lovely guy! He recommended restaurants that we thoroughly enjoyed, he even joined us on one occasion. Best of all he took us to a cool local disco! He really wanted us to enjoy ourselves! So please look out for him and tell him the English girls said hi!!

Gain new friends as u Tour Coron at a lesser cost

by yellowcab

Cost of Inter-island trips at Coron ranges from 1500 pesos to as high as 3000 pesos. But you can save on the cost of the boat trips by joining/sharing with other budget-conscious tourists. This is a common practice among the guests here in most hotels. All you have to do is to ask the hotel front desk personnel to find a safe looking partner / tourists inside the hotel who can join you on the trip. Most of the time they announce it over the microphone / post it on the bulletin boards the day before the scheduled trip This way you make your trip more enjoyable(esp if you are alone) by gaining new friends along the trip. Who knows he/she might be the one you've been looking for and you can count on take beautiful pics of you.

boat to Palawan

by elsadran

As this was supposed to be an adventure trip, as all my latest trips are, I took the boat from Manila. We were scheduled to leave at 5 pm but we left at 7 pm actually. Before getting on the ship the police took our photo and fingerprints. In big boats there was always a luggage search usually with dogs sniffing for guns , which of course gave me a safety feeling as I had heard a lot about bombings and disorder. Well, after all, nothing went wrong in my whole Philippine trip as you can read in my dangers tip...After watching the sunset in Manila port we set off for the 24 hour voyage to Palawan. The bunk beds were not very comfortable as they were all on the noisy deck, exposed to the winds and rain but anyway. People were very friendly and talkative. Some treated me to their food and although I avoid munchies I had to accept as a gesture of good will. The noise and most of the lights...
