  • El Nido on a Budget

We only paid around Php300/pax for a one-way trip to El Nido (February 2008). Trips to and fro El Nido, Taytay, Roxas, Puerto Princesa are on a daily basis. Although the road was dusty and the bus is shabby, I must say that going to El Nido wouldn't be any cheaper as this. Besides, the bus didn't overheat despite the 8-hour journey. Just be patient...

On second thought, I am considering staying for 2 nights at port barton and then traveling to roxas for a 1 night stay at coco loco. Do you think this is a do-able plan? Or will it be too tiring?I understand port barton is just an 1-hour land travel away from roxas. Is this correct?Further, does anyone know if I can get a ride out of port barton to...

As this was supposed to be an adventure trip, as all my latest trips are, I took the boat from Manila. We were scheduled to leave at 5 pm but we left at 7 pm actually. Before getting on the ship the police took our photo and fingerprints. In big boats there was always a luggage search usually with dogs sniffing for guns , which of course gave me a...

I had decided on flying back to Manila from El Nido. The air fare was 100 US$. But when one of my friends decided to get on the cargo ship that was leaving at midnight I was in a big dilemma. I thought it might be fun but I would waste two whole days. The adventurous spirit prevailed so I canceled the booking on the plane and went along. The ship...

I booked a flight from Dubai to Manilla to Puerto Princesa. My thought was that I would then take a bus the next morning to El Nido. The bus trip literally took the whole day due to bad roads, frequent stops, and several flat tires. The scenery was awesome, so it definitely wasn't a bad trip.If you want to bypass Puerto (which I found to be...

From PPS we went to San Jose Terminal going to El Nido. We took the 5am trip. Approx. travel time is 8-10 hours. The mini-bus is cramped, very small legroom and non-aircon. It pays to stand up and go outside of the bus during stop-overs. There are stop-over in Roxas & Taytay towns. We arrived at El Nido 12nn. Eulen charged 250/pax/way.We arrived in...
