Our experience with tour guide was not that good. As indicated in my earlier trip, I was off the track twice right in front of the guide, but he never bothered to stop me. While on the way to crater, guides will just try to follow their own pace without caring much about what is happening behind. On the way back, sometimes they will see behind to ensure that you are with him, the only reason is that they can not go back home with out bringing you back safely. We crossed rapidly flowing streams by helping each other but perhaps our guide was just enjoying seeing us haggling with overflowing streams.
Pinatubo trek

Always hire a tourist guide when embarking on Pinatubo trek. If you will try to do of your own, for sure you will be in trouble. You can easily head towards wrong direction. On the start of trek, instead of following the guide, I tried a slightly different direction and after ten minutes I was on the edge of a lahar stream that can not be crossed. This happened again on my return trek.
Beware of tricycle drivers!
by lahoree
I have read a lot on internet about tricycle drivers ripping off tourists. I was on my own vehicle and can you image they still ripped me off. I was lost on the way and a tricycle driver very kindly offered me to put me on the right track while I will follow him. After less than half a kilometer, I was back on track and he demanded PHP 100 on account of "chasing fee". Hah I was informed that locals pay PHP 8 for a short ride.
