Assist in carrying the banca to the shore
Even when I was still young, we oftentimes spend our summer vacation in San Fabian at the beach. We always notice that whenever a banca comes in from the sea, men from the shore rushes off to help out on lifting the banca to the shore. Those who helped are usual given a little something from the catch made. And the fish given to these men can actually serve as dinner or lunch already for a small family. There are instances however that nobody rushes to the sea. When I ask a local why this is so? They answered that it has no catch. My next question then is how do they know that there is no catch when they cannot see the inside of the boat. The answer I got, they use the water level at the side of the boat to determine whether it is carrying a bountiful catch. If they see that the boat is almost submerged in the water then it has loads of fish in it.
