Boating at Hundred Islands

The fare from Lucap to the Hundred Islands National Park by outrigger boat has been fixed officially at P400 plus P15 entry fee per person (P30 for an overnight stay). They can take up to five people, and larger boats are a bit more expensive. It's wise to agree upon the duration of the trip or the driver might return after only 30 minutes. You can also go on an island round trip which will cost you between P100 and P200 extra, depending on the duration and extent of the trip. This makes it possible to choose your own island and be dropped off there, but don't forget to fix a time to be picked up for the return trip. Four or five hours of island life will probably be quite enough, especially when there is no shade. Most day trippers go to Quezon Island, particularly on weekends. You can get drinks at the kiosk there.

Lucap Lighthouse
1 more image

There's not much to see in Lucap aside from the lighthouse. The lighthouse is still active with green flash every 5 seconds. Approxately 20 meters in height, it has a slender square concrete tower with an external concrete stairway winding around it. It has no lantern. It's location is on the waterfront at Lucap, on the west side of Lingayen Gulf about 5 km northeast of Alaminos. The site is open and the tower can be climbed.

Governor's Island

Governor's Island is our last stop for our island hopping trip. This is the island where Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition had their location shooting. It has a very nice little cottage where you can rent for P10,000/day according to the caretaker. He was very accomodating and guided us around the island. He even let us have a quick look inside the cottage where Kim and Gerard, winners of Pinoy Big Brother stayed. We reached the top of the island after an uphill climb. It was a bit tiring but worth it coz we were rewarded with a panoramic view over the islands. There's a mini-forest with large shady trees so it was cool & green. Also found is a cave like structure where there are tables and benches underneath to sit during low tide. Remember to take food provisions with you. Setting up tent is P10/day. Reservations in Lucap.
Aside from the 3 developed islands, we were also able to roam around and see some of the other islands like Cathedral Island et al.

Quezon Island

Quezon Island is the nicest of the three developed islands. The other two are Governor's and Children's Islands. It has nice sandy beach with floating cabana. Kayaks are available for you to rent. There's also a bridgeway where you can have a leisurely stroll towards a hut. Nice for picture taking. Better bring your own food provisions with you. Same with other islands, putting up tent is P10/day. You can rent a so-called pavilion for P600. Reservations in Lucap.

Children's Island is our first stop in our Hundred Islands island hopping trip. It has very nice views from above. The sea is calm coz it's partly hidden so it's ideal for swimming. There's a floating cabana where you can sit and relax. Plenty of trees around to provide shade from the heat of the sun. You can also roam around the island to take a look on the surroundings. Family outings are common especially during weekends. Remember to take adequate food supplies with you if you want to spend a night or several days on one of the 123 islands. You can put up your own tent for P10 a day. Cottages are also available for P600 and P1450. Water and cooking facilities are provided and there are toilets. I find the cottages and toilets in need of clean up. You can make reservations in Lucap.
