Ah, Sunset!

This is my favorite times in Pangasinan. I always have the chance to watch the sunset, and I have never stopped loving this activity. These pictures were taken from the highway on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Across the road where my cousin lives is a vacant lot that provides a breathtaking view of the sunset. I was really happy and lucky to have captured this magic moment.

Don't Miss the Peanut Brittle: Mangaldan's Best

Mangaldan is home to the original makers of the famous delicacy - the Romana Peanut Brittle... Romana Peanut Brittle... finding this out years ago (as my father told me when I bought one from Baguio City :-D) actually surprised me as I thought it was from Baguio City...well, I guess a lot of folks still do nowadays.

Peanut brittle is made of glucose, sugar, baking soda and of course, peanuts. It's yummy and crunchy... it's my personal favorite among the Pangasinan delicacies. Just like the Calasiao "puto", once you start, you can't stop.

You can find the store in their ancestral house which is located just a few steps away from the church and the public park. They also have a store beside the Mangaldan Church.

So if you happen to visit Mangaldan, be sure to grab one and get it at a cheaper price.

Tupig Stalls

Tupig or suman is another famous, native delicacy in Pangasinan. It is made of ground glutinous sticky rice and scraped meat of young coconut or buko wrapped in banana leaves and then roasted over on an open charcoal fire. Find the array of tupig stalls along the street fronting the Mangaldan public park.

Located across Mangaldan Church, is so named because the park is dedicated to the late daughter of a politician who was burned to death in a fire that hit their house.

This town's church looks very simple with a red-painted facade. When I came here late afternoon, I saw a group of children practicing and rehearsing their Easter Sunday activities.
