Church hopping, anyone?

by semper.max

Having been under the colony of Spain for more than 500 years, the Philippines practically have at least one church in every town and city. Some have lasted for centuries while some were literally rebuilt from rubbles and ashes when they were destroyed during the World War. Marvel at the architecture and learn the story behind each of these churches as you visit every town and city in Pangasinan.

Not sure what church this is :)

Wait for the sunset and shoot

by semper.max

Since the coastal provinces of Pangasinan is situated on the western side of Luzon, you can take spectacular shots as the sun sets on the horizon. Be it an SLR or an ordinary point and shoot, you can never go wrong...

Enjoy the beaches in Pangasinan

by semper.max

Take your pick. Bolinao, Anda, San Fabian, Dagupan, Lingayen... There are lots of beaches in Pangasinan being a coastal province. Although sands are not white as that of Boracay or Puerto Galera, you'd enjoy the fine sand of the beaches. The downward slope towards the sea is very gradual and you'll find yourself far from the shore with the water still at your waistline. Being inside the Lingayen Gulf, you'll be surprise at how calm the sea is compared to the other shorelines such as La Union and Ilocos which makes it ideal for kids.

Most beaches would have huts lining up the shore.

That's a lot of islands to hop

by semper.max

One of the most famous tourist destination in Pangasinan is the Hundred Islands National Park located in Lucap, Alaminos, Pangasinan. After it was placed under the auspices of the Department of Tourism, the rates for going to the islands has standardized. No longer would you need to haggle for banca prices nor would you have to find someone to share the boat with. Standard boat trips are available and you can still create your own trip if you so wish but for a higher (but standard) rate. The islands have changed also as there were already some hiking trails and improvements done on the major ones. I've also seen some visitors doing some kayaking across the islands. It is truly a must-see and a day trip is definitely a must if you visit Pangasinan.

Shop for Veggies and Fruits at Villasis Bagsakan

by semper.max

On the town of Villasis Pangasinan, right on the highway, you will find the Villasis Bagsakan. If you are looking for fresh vegetables at good prices, this would be a place to buy it. I find the fruits too costly though as some are not native to Pangasinan. If you do what to sample the different fruits in the Philippines for a particular season, you'd finally find that in the market also. We also found dried fish, "bagoong" and boneless bangus being sold.

Parking spaces are available for market-goers

Visit the Shrine of our Lady of Manaoag

by semper.max

A lot of pilgrims visit the Shrine of our Lady of Manaoag. Also known as the Nuestra Senora de Manaoag, it was believed to possess miraculous powers of healing. The Lady of Manaoag is the patroness of the sick, the helpless and the needy. Manaoag was coined from the word "tawag" which means to call or seek help. It was established in the year 1720.

cultural heritage, travel

Read full article here: http://trackingtreasure.net/?p=691We started the tour right by asking for guidance and personal prayer at Senor Divino Tesoro Shrine. Many believed that the crucified statue of Jesus Christ grows in size and grant wishes. Then we headed to Calasiao Church, San Pedro y San Pablo de Calasiao. I was amazed because it was my first time to see a big old church with an interesting and complex architecture, even if it was already reconstructed after according to history, being burned during a revolt and then ruined by an earthquake. I then had the time to ask some locals about my long lost grandparent. It was a long story to tell. They were the uncle and aunt of my father who then took care of the latter when he was young. We used to visit them in their house in Pasig but one time when we went there, we saw their house being reconstructed and found out that they already...

Day tour at Cabongaoan

by miguel_arcangel

If you've been to Hundred Islands and Bolinao beaches, try the Caboangan beach in Burgos, Pangasinan for a more private "get away from it all". Located about 2 hours drive from Alaminos City.Pros and Cons though, but the bumpy ride, the rough road will lead you to a secluded, white sand, charming paradise. Caboangan beach has electricity. But if you wish to stay overnight, ask the caretakers if they can provide you with light bulbs. Also, bring mosquito net with you and your rolling mat including pillows for a more comfortable sleep. I am more than willing to try an overnight stay in those nipa hut cottages and catch the sunrise. Better have your car conditioned for such a road trip.
