Beautiful arches

by victorwkf

As you approach the main areas of Villa Escudero from the entrance, there is a beautiful archway made up of arches of bamboos. This is a very simple and yet nice archway to welcome visitors from all over the world.

Exploring Villa Escudero

by victorwkf

Villa Escudero is very easy to explore and very safe since this place is protected and away from the notorous city areas. I enjoyed walking around and taking many photographs during my stay at Villa Escudero. The important thing to remember is to take your time and relax, after all this is what a holiday is all about :)

Mount Banahaw

by victorwkf

Rising some 2450 meters from sea level, Mount Banahaw is an active volcano and a part of the Banahaw-Cristobal National Park. This volcano forms the backdrop of Villa Escudero when you view the Labasin River from the Coconut Pavillion. Mount Banahaw has long been believed to be a storehouse of psychic energy and the local residents considers it a sacred mountain.

Mount Makiling

by victorwkf

The mystical Mount Makiling is an inactive volcano rising to about 1,109 meters above sea level and can be clearly seen on the way to Villa Escudero. The slopes of Mt. Makiling are shaped to resemble a woman reclining, hence, the air of mysticism that surrounds the mountain. Legend has it that it is the profile of the sleeping Maria Makiling, a mythical goddess. Still others say that Maria Makiling dwells in this mountain and protects dwellers and travelers from harm.

People Watching

by victorwkf

One of my favourite thing about Villa Escudero is that I was able to watch the local people who visited the place on a Sunday. They were all dressed in traditional costumes ready for the carnival atmosphere of the Christian procession held on that day :)

Enchanting Sunrise

by victorwkf

The sunrise at Villa Escudero is really beautiful, but you have to wake up early to catch it. The best place to see it is at the Coconut Pavillion where you can have a comfortable seat and watch the sun rise from behind the volcano, with reflection on the calm water of the Labasin River. More photographs of sunrise are at the travelogue section of this VT page.

Relaxing at the traditional river house

by victorwkf

I stayed in a traditional river house of Villa Escudero and enjoyed the experience. The place is beautifully designed and very relaxing although there is no air-con or television. Good place to spend some quiet time to watch the day pass by :)

Statues

by victorwkf

There are many statues everywhere when you are exploring Villa Escudero. I took the opportunity to take photographs of some of them :)
