This place is located inside the old port strip of Gumaca. There is an abandoned Philippine Ports Authority(PPA) terminal here with a light beacon! There is a small variety of small coral fishes here you can catch! A nipa hut is situated at the farthest point of the strip where you can take a rest while waiting for that BIG catch!

San Pablo
by victorwkf
The city of San Pablo is located near to Villa Escudero and may be worth a visit. My driver told me San Pablo city is famous for its stainless steel kitchen utensils such as woks. I managed to spot a shop selling them near to San Pablo on my way to Villa Escudero.
Nearby attractions

If you are at Villa Escudero, you could also visit nearby attractions. The first is the famous Taal Volcano and lake located at Tagaytay. This is one of the smallest volcanoes in the world and is one of the most active in the Philippines. Many tourists visit this attraction every one, one which some will go all the way up to the volcano crater rim. More information and photographs of Tagaytay, Taal Volcano and lake are at my VT Tagaytay and Talisay pages. Another attraction is the famous Pagsanjan Falls which I did not visit. This is an impressive waterfall, and the journey there using traditional boats through many rapids is equally exciting. Perhaps I may visit Pagsanjan Falls next time.
Fountain and small garden
by victorwkf
If you venture into the apartment and traditional river houses area of Villa Escudero, there is a beautiful fountain and small garden located near the end which are worth checking out. Usually this area is rather quiet and is a good getaway from the crowd especially on a Sunday.

Weird Tree at the Bank of Labasin River
by victorwkf
There is a weird looking tree at the bank of the Labasin River. This tree is located just next to the last unit of the river houses, somewhere near the fountain area. It is worth checking out this interesting tree :) Any botany experts out there who can identify this tree?

Large Field
by victorwkf
There is an impressive large field on the right when you enter Villa Escudero and head towards the main areas. Sometimes you can see carabao (water baffalo) grazing the filed, which is dominated by some mountains (I think they are volcanoes) at the background. Do drop by when you at Villa Escudero as this is a scenic spot to take some landscape photographs.

Little Mermaid
by asianbelle
Also within the town of Atimonan, a statue of a mermaid sitting on a big boulder can be found. It takes a very "keen" eye to notice it as it is hidden from the road by rows of small houses. The statute has its back to the bay and I wonder why it is not proportion with the size of the rock (?). Unfortunately, we did not have the time to ask the locals the story behind the statue.
Refreshing view
by asianbelle
After driving/sitting for more than 4 hours, we reached Atimonan and were up for a good stretch. Instead of stopping by a gas station or just parking our vehicle along the side of the road, we decided to do it in style. We chose this part of the road facing the bay. Most travellers just drive past this area and miss what we saw - a really refreshing view!
Colourful whale statue
by victorwkf
There is a huge and colourful statue of a whale near to the Coconut Pavillion. This is probably a good attraction for children and maybe for photography as well :)
