There are a few swimming pools at the resort area of Villa Escudero which are specially built for children to enjoy. Bathing and changing facilities are conveniently located just next to the pools. For full enjoyment of the pools, it is better for your family to stay overnight at Villa Escudero as the apartments and river houses are just next to the pools.
The Arsenio Escudero Hydroelectric Power Plant is located just next to the dam of the Labasin River which creates the Labasin Waterfall. This power plant generates good and clean electricity using the force of the river.
There is a big field in front of the museum and House of Escudero which houses several interesting monuments, including a tank and world war 2 plane. There is also a flag of the Philippines here with the national anthem of the country at the foot of the flagpole.
The artifical Labasin Waterfalls is created by damming the Labasin River which flows through Villa Escudero. Underneath this waterfall is the place where lunch is served (see tip at Restaurant section). You will also see many people playing and soaking themselves in the waterfall, especially children :)
Next to Villa Escudero is the tranquil Labasin River which is ideal for rafting. This river is very scenic especially with the traditional river houses along its bank and volcanos on the background. Best place to view is at the Coconut Pavillion and best time is sunrise and early morning (more photographs are at the travelogue section of this VT page). There is a dam and hydroelectric station at Villa Escudero, which create an artificial waterfall where lunch is served (see Restuarant tip at this page).
The Escudero Family Museum is located at a very impressive church next to the Escudero Family House. Continuous guided tours aof the museum re conducted daily from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The very huge and impressive collection in the museum is made up of Christian religious artifacts, silver alters, carrozas, Spanish galleon trade items, ceramics and Philippine dioramas. Unfortunately photography and videos are not allowed inside the musuem about the exterior of the museum (see photographs) will give you a good idea of the atmosphere of the place.
As Villa Escudero is a working coconut plantation, you will see many tall coconut trees all over the place, especially when you enter the Villa from the main road. These coconut trees look very beautiful amidst the beautiful blue sky. As expected, you can try the coconut drink when you are at Villa Escudero. During the culture show, there is also a demonstration of the traditional way of removing the husk of the coconut fruit and opening it up for the juice inside.
Sometime last year, a priest from Lucban was reported to have healing powers. As such, people from different parts of the country flock to this town to seek cure for their ailments.
Early this year, a church and calvary hill were constructed. The church is located at the foot of the hill where healing masses are conducted. On the slope of the hill, bigger than life-size images of the 15 mysteries of the rosary were installed.
There are more than 200 steps from the foot of the hill to the image of the Transfiguration on the top. The good thing about this place is, the people are allowed to go up the hill on scheduled time which is normally after a mass. While mass is being said, the gates to the calvary hill is closed.
Lucban is famous for its Pahiyas Festival celebrated every 15th of May. This annual festival is done in honor of San Isidro Labrador as a thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.
However, our trip was a week early so we did not get to see the colorful and gaily decorated houses. We decided to visit the town's church which is being prepared for the festivities.
Watch the parade of giant paper mache and the town beauties. The parade also showcases the ingenious use of local materials to create traditional Filipino costumes.
Very relaxing & nice accomodation and makes you feel closer to nature experience traditional...more
