    Stinking Foamy Catch Basin

If you expect to have an unforgettable experience when you see the majestic Hinulugang Taktak Falls, you're in for a big surprise. You will indeed have an unforgetable experience BUT NOT in a positive way. You will remember it for the stench of foamy water coming from the falls. It is sad that Hinulugang Taktak has been neglected for a long time. The Local government has not done anything to deter residents from carelessly dumping their trash and draining their laundry water on the river leading to the falls. No effort has been made to divert drainage canals. The catch basin is full of detergent foam that stinks, you will feel nauseated. Those with asthma or allergic rhinitis, be forewarned... Avoid the area. The waterfalls is still beautiful from afar, but it is not worth viewing at close distance.

UPDATE: I got good news! The voice of the advocates for the rehabilitation and restoration of the beauty of Hinulugang Taktak has been heard. The government, in partnership with some private groups have allotted P100M for the makeover/rehabilitation of Hinulugang Taktak

    Rude Tricycle Drivers in Antipolo

Beware of this rude overpricing driver

When we visit Antipolo Cathedral, we usually leave our private car at the parking lot of Max's where we eat lunch. Then, we take the tricyle going to the Cathedral, as parking space is very difficult to find there. It has been a habit for us to ask first how much is the fare. One time, I forgot to ask the driver of the tricycle that brought us back to Max's from the Cathedral, so we were surprised to be charged double than what we paid for going there. When we tried to argue, the driver rudely told us he wouldn't have drove us there if he knew we wouldn't pay him a special rate. We could have paid if only to avoid prolonging the argument, but he was so rude and mean so I gave him only the regular fare. He was still mouthing bad words, so I tried to take his picture. He left immediately while cursing.

    Joining Alay-Lakad? Beware of Snatchers!

by scarletf Written Mar 25, 2008

Since there are a lot of people who walk with you going to Antipolo, always be watchful of your valuable things. If you can avoid it, don't bring big amount of cash, expensive cellphone, jewelry and expensive cap. Even though there are police visibilities, these snatchers and pick-pocketers are quite smart.
