The best way to get to Catbalogan is via Van hires from Tacloban in Leyte. You could share a van with other travellers or you could hire the whole van. The whole van could be had for Peso2500 last year. The journey takes 4hrs more or less and crosses the San Juanico Bridge. This bridge is by far the longest in the Philippines. There are three van companies servicing the Tacloban-Catbalogan route but we went with Duptours. The van was ok. Not the best but it was clean, the AC was cool and the driver was very helpful.
