Travellers who wish to arrive on the same day at Matnog should use the combination of air and land transports as follows:
Take a plane from Manila Domestic Airport to Legazpi City. From Legazpi City airport, take a trycyle to any bus stations (recommendably Philtranco) located at Legazpi City center. Philtranco has a number of trips going to Matnog. If you're really in a hurry, a taxi or car just outside Legazpi City airport terminal can be contracted to travel all the way to Matnog but the cost there is quite expensive for average Filipino commuters.
A plane ride from Manila to Legazpi is less than an hour. A bus or car ride from Legazpi to Matnog takes about 4 hours or less.
Travellers driving their car who used the Cebu-Isabel-Allen-Matnog route before may use Cebu-Maguinoo-Allen-Matnog as a good alternative .
Please note that Maguinoo port is in Calbayog, Samar. This port is being served by the Trans-Asia Shipping for Cebu-Maguinoo (and vice-versa) travellers.
Tricycle, a two-wheel cart (they call sidecar) attached to a motorcycle, is the most popular and inexpensive mode of transport . A 1,000 peso is worth the trip to explore and photoshoot Matnog's different villages and nearby towns of Bulan, Irosin, and Sta. Magdalena.
