Hi! We just got back from Sorsogon last month. Tricycle from airport to grand terminal in Legaspi costs us P50 while the van going to Sorsogon City is P60 for about 1 hour trip. From Sorsogon City you can take a jeep going to Gubat. I am not sure if there is a van in Legaspi going directly to Gubat though.
Sorsogon City is a good jump off point to see any part of Sorsogon. Jeepney terminals abound along Rizal and Magsaysay Avenue for various trips around the province. Always ask the drivers/conductors though what time is the last trip returning to the city is so that you don't get stranded where you're going.
Matnog Seaport is the connection of land travellers from mainland Luzon with the islands of Samar and Leyte - connecting with Allen Seaport of Samar.The Roro ferry route is very busy considering that it is part of the backbone of the Maharlika Highway connecting Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Roro ferries leave the port for the 1-hour crossing every hour at 24hrs round-the-clock service. Cost of crossing our family van was P900 - very affordable, I say.
The town of Matnog in Sorsogon is where the southernmost tip of the Maharlika Highway in mainland Luzon ends. Just before entering Matnog Seaport when travelling by land and want to cross to the next island of Samar, the big arch sign says "You Are Now Leaving the Island of Luzon". That's 646kms away from Manila.Remember, this is not yet the end of the road. Driving up to the Visayas and farther to Mindanao is possible by island hopping your vehicle with Roro ferries connecting the big islands. The Matnog,Sorsogon-Allen,Samar, (San Juanico Bridge), Liloan,Leyte-Surigao connections are 24/7 busy routes
