    Car Hire

We hire this car through a friend who lives in Siargao. The driver/guide charges P400 daily excluding gas to tour around the island for the whole day. With gas, you'll be spending around P2T per day. The guide, a pastor is knowledgeable about the island & is quite friendly. His sister/companion can even cook for you if requested. The car however needs conditioning & is quite bumpy. But overall it was ok.

    Cebu Pacific Air

Cebu Pacific Air now flies direct Cebu-Siargao route. We took the promo fare of P500 per way offered by the airline. It was a 72-seater ATR plane. Travel time took 50 minutes. Schedule is every MWF noontime.

    Pumpboat

You need to hire pumpboat from General Luna to really experience the beauty of Siargao. The resort we stayed at, Jadestar Resort has it's own pumpboat so it was convenient for us. Their price is negotiable. For 3 island tours (Dacu, Guyam & Naked Islands), they charge P1500. If including Sohoton Cove, that would be P4T. For our last day, we went back to Dacu Island, my fave spot for P500 only.

  • Make a connecting flight going to Siargao

by nikifelo Written Oct 2, 2008

There should be a connecting trip going to Siargao since Cebu Pacific and PAL are going to Surigao City then it would be better if they do connect their flight from Manila or from Cebu and go straight to Siargao via Surigao City or Cebu so that Siargao will be very accessible and Siargao becomes a World Tourist Destination. And GMA promised to make the airport of Siargao bigger and better and has assigned a budget for that when she visit siargao the last time when she graced the 1st Gamefishing Tournament in Pilar, Siargao.

Ferry trips are very limited. There are at most 2 trips per day. So as not to waste time, we took the first trip which was at 5:30 am. Ride took 3 hours going to the island. you'd pass through mangroves and several islands. The pier didn't look like a pier at all. From the Dapa pier, you'd have to take a van going to general luna which took 30 minutes. GL is worth the wait and tire.

Main mode of transportation around GL is the Habal habal, which is really just a motorcycle except that there are 4-5 people in one ride. rates depend on where your going to. From our resort to the market, it would cost P20 per person. quite expensive though.

    Strolling in GL

The best way to go around Siargao island is thru the use of motorcycle. A lot of motorcycles can be rented in GL at a cost of P400/day. You cant go wrong if you just ask for directions from locals.
