Victory Bus Liner, jeepney and 4x4 truck
148 bus fare and 5 pesos for insurance fee to capas tarlac. 22 pesos jeepney fare going to patling and the 4x4 truck which waited for us in patling. We paid 2950 for the 4x4 truck. Its adviceable to leave metro manila very early so that you will enjoy the place.
Since we travelled with a group, we opted to bring our own vehicles (vans & cars) going to and around Capas. We felt it was the best option in order to effectively control our time and movements.
Route: From Manila, we took the North Luzon Expressway and exited at Sta. Ines toll gate. From there, we drove to MacArthur Hwy onwards to Bamban and Capas, Tarlac. Upon seeing the public market in Capas, we took a left turn to Brgy. Sto. Rosario and drove ahead past the Capas Nat'l Shrine and Camp O' Donnell, until we reached Brgy. Sta. Juliana, known to all as the gateway to the crater lake of Mt. Pinatubo. We left our vehicles at the Parking lot infront of PDC Spa Town and transferred to a x4 jeep.

How to get here:
If you’re coming from Manila, take the North Luzon Expressway. Exit Dau toll plaza for you to take your rented vehicle (meeting place is usually at the Clark SEZ main gate). From there, take the Mac Arthur highway to Mabalacat enroute to Bamban and Capas in Tarlac towards north. When you reach the market place in Capas, take a left turn to Brgy. Sto. Rosario and negotiate the 22 km. countryside road passing along barangays Arangureti, O’ Donnell, Sta. Lucia, Patling and finally, the last frontier which is Brgy. Sta. Juliana- gateway to the crater of Mt. Pinatubo. Travel time from Clark to Sta. Juliana takes about an hour and a half.
To get to the crater with reduced amount of effort (at least 2.5 to 3 hours of walking) bring or hire a 4x4 all weather all terrain vehicle. They negotiate watery and rocky paths leading to the crater with less effort. Members of the Angeles City Four Wheelers Club offer there 3-passenger off-road for a price (at 3,500 pesos per jeep or 1,170 pesos per passenger good for a day only). Without these vehicles, you walk some 4-6 hours using ordinary jeep or vehicle.
