No Animal Show & Parade at Zoobic

by cyndymc Written Apr 15, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I thought this kid was part of the animal parade

We've already gone to Zoobic in our previous trip to Subic Bay Freeport Zone. In our latest Subic trip, we went to Zoobic again. Though we knew we'd see the same animals, we still went and paid P499/pax because we wanted to witness their animal show & parade which was featiured on local tv. Alas, the show was NO SHOW! The staff reasoned out that they held it only on weekends and holidays. When I reminded them that it was a holiday that day, they just kept quiet :(

Unique Suggestions: We had no choice but proceed with the tiger safari which was the next best thing.

Fun Alternatives: Frankly, if we had more time, I would have made a formal complaint to the manager or supervisor. Since we were in a hurry, we couldn't do anything but sulk; we also told other tourists about our being shortchanged.

Moral lesson: Before buying the ticket on a weekend or holiday, verify if they will have the animal show & parade.

Poor Quality Souvenir Picture W/ Tiger Cub

by cyndymc Written Apr 15, 2009

    My Stolen Shot
    2 more images

At the Zoobic waiting area, we saw a poster display of souvenir pictures of celebrities with the tiger, so my daughter and his son were enticed to have their souvenir picture, too. They paid a hefty amount of P240 for one pose with a tiger cub. Their souvenir picture was shot by a Zoobic staff. My husband who had a camera also wanted to take a shot of our daughter and grandson while they were feeding the tiger cub, but a Zoobic staff seemed to intentionally block his view. Well, it is understandable; they probably wanted to monopolize all the picture taking.

Of course, we expected the picture to be of same quality as the pictures in their poster, but my daughter was disgusted with the poor quality of their picture (blurry). There was no retake.

Unique Suggestions: Sorry, I cannot think of ways to make the situation bearable. It was simply disgusting! Since they were using a digicam, the photographer could already preview the shot. She should have re-shot when she saw it was blurry. Or if the digicam or printer was the problem, they should replace their camera or repair their printer.

Fun Alternatives: Actually, I managed to sneak to the side and take a shot. Though it was not very clear as I wanted it to be because my hand shook (perhaps with tension), but at least, it was still clearer than the shot of the Zoobic staff.

My youngest daughter had her picture taken with the tiger cub during our first visit at Zoobic. Since we were pressed for time, she gave her digicam to the Zoobic staff and waived the printed copy. Maybe that is a better option that other tourists can do.

  • Subic Bay Yacht Club - BIG Disappointment

    by traveller213 Written Mar 7, 2010

    Big disappointment.

Subic Bay Yacht Club has horrible disappointing service! They will f* you over. We rented a boat for fishing and they said they will take care of everything including the equipment and bring us deep sea to fish and we’ll definitely catch fishes. But the fishing rods they provided were no good, they kept breaking when big fishes were caught, and we practically weren’t able to fish! The only fishes we caught were as small as our fingers and everyone of us were out there under the sun for hours so disappointed. Worse, they didn’t bring us far, we were within the port and they brought us to an illegal fishing area!!! We had to hide that we’re fishing everytime police came by!

The lobby of the place is scorching hot. The restaurants are always dead and empty. It’s too lonely to even eat there.

Since we were fishing, they said they will give us a room discounted. Plus we have a member with us and they said that members do not get charged for tax on their room. We paid for incidentals on check-in though that they said they will return to us when we check out. Our friend was the last one to leave and they didn’t return that money and charged him of tax!

They’d take advantage of you and f* you over as much as they could all for money. Worst service ever!

  • Lighthouse Marina Resort - TERRIBLE. Go elsewhere!

    by traveller00000001 Written Oct 27, 2010

This resort has extremely bad customer service. Having vacationed in the area before, i had high expectations becaue of my experience in other resorts in the area. But this resort was just terrible! Seriously, spend the same amount of money elsewhere, or stay at a much better place for cheaper! This is my first post on tripadvisor. Yes, i was treated by their local staff that badly. Rooms are clean enough but nothing special. Location is average. The rest of the hotel is nice, but really not much different from others that are much better priced and have much better service. The customer service was almost non-existent. The staff were mostly unhelpful, not knowledgeable, usually evasive; sometimes they were downright rude. Generally, it felt like they were doing me a favour by serving me; also, they didn't know anything about the activities that were available at their own hotel! This for a resort that really isn't better than other hotels in the other area; and those other hotels in the area treated their guests muuuch better. I dont know why this is ranked so highly here, i suppose their level of customer service has declined. Their general manager should get sacked for treating their guests so offhandedly.

Unique Suggestions: Give their manager a piece of your mind... if you can get a hold of him!

Fun Alternatives: Resorts segara or vista marina are much better priced, have better customer service, rooms and hotel are comparable.
