LIVE ABOARD SAKURA at TUBBATAHA
The SAKURA is a trimaran and usually has a weekly trip to Tubbataha from mid March to Mid June, when sea and weather conditions are most favorable. Dino and his wife Let are wonderful hosts and are eager to help anyone. I have met several people who have taken the Tubbataha trip with Sakura and are all 100% satisfied.

DRAGON BOAT RACE----DON'T MISS IT!!!!!
We attended the Dragon Boat Races this morning and found that 10 teams had entered including 3 local teams and others from Manila, Boracay, the Marines and Navy. The ladies dragon boat held 10 rowers while the mens held 20, along with a coxswain and a guy beating a drum. The races were over 300m course and the Marines seemed to be dominating the earlier events. The races started at 8 am but there was a lack of shade for the spectators so we did not stay for long due to the heat and to be honest we found it rather boring. It may have been more interesting if we had a friend represented in one of the teams.
June 29th 2014 will be the days that Dragon Boat racing comes to Puerto Princesa, following in the footsteps of Boracay where it has become an annual event, and that is the intention here. The event is organised by the City Government and teams are coming from different parts of the country to participate in the event. The races can be seen at Baywalk, which is adjacent to the port and a couple of blocks from the cathedral.

FANCY A GAME OF BADMINTON
If you like to play badminton then Extreme Zone is the place for you. The courts are located near the intersection of Rizal Avenue and Burgos Street. Just look for the snack counter selling Chinese empanadas and the entrance is right next to it down a few steps. I am not 100% sure if rackets are available or you have to bring your own
Well it is all over for this year, so i will be posting next year's dates when they are announced early neaxt year.
Every year there are 17 qualifying runs that culminates in the big race in Manila. It is sponsored by Milo and you pay 100 pesos to enter and you will get a free t-shirt. You must enrol beforehand and must wear your Milo t-shirt. As well as the 20km and 10km race for the serious runners young children run 3kms then there is several thousand people who have fun and run 5 kms. Some of the proceeds go to providing shoes for poor children. This year the race is on June 30th and normally starts at Mendoxa Park at 5.30am. See you there!

- Hiking and Walking
The sports arena is located 5 kms out of town near the City Hall and anybody can use this, so if you feel like an early morning jog join the locals by jogging around the track. Sometimes there are students sports meets here and there will be many snack bars, and stalls selling a variety of items.
For diving courses or just diving excursions visit Moana Dive centre where Paulo can fix you up with whatever you need. He has very reliable equipment, been here 15 years and knows the best dive spots.

Head for the audititorium in Mendoza Park late afternoon and you will see the students play Sepak Takraw, a game played with a rattan ball, the y kick it back and forward over a net, sometimes known as kick volleybll but the skill of the teenagers will amaze you.
The beaches in Puerto Princesa are not so great, normally if you want a good beach you have to go to Honda Bay or Nagtabon but there are a few hotels with swimming pools. In my opinion the best is Oberoi, complete with bar in the pool, Moana (very small), Legend (indoors), Aventura (small), and a few more.
