Badjao Seafood Restaurant is a must-see place in Puerto Princesa, not only for their foods but for the amazing view of the mangroves and the sunset. You have to make reservations if you want to be assured of a seats in their dining hall. It was our last night in Puerto Princesa, so we made sure to have our dinner there, and have ample time for sunset photo ops, too. Luckily, we got reservations (thanks to the staff of Dangkalan Beach Resort) and although it is quite out of the way, our resort van brought us there.
We arrived early for dinner but just in time to wait for the sunset. I was impressed by the native-inspired restaurant on stilts surrounded by mangroves. Our reserved table was away from the sunset view, but the restaurant's wide veranda offered an amazing view of the mangrove area and the sunset. I ordered food immediately and while waiting for the food, we enjoyed taking pictures.
Favorite Dish: The food I ordered were forgettable...The seafoods were quite dry and their "sisig" was too salty and fatty...but the food for the spirit was great. I'm referring to the amazing sunset view which I will post separately.
While in Baker's Hill, I noticed the crowd gathering infront of a building. They were reading the menu and looking at the pictures of foods for "paluto". It was only then that I realized there was a restaurant called Baker's Kitchen. If we only had more time and our own vehicle, we could have perhaps eaten our late lunch there. There were many in their posted menu that made me more hungry. (Look at my photo for their menu and prices.)
Buffet lunch at Taraw Restaurant in Sabang is usually part of the Underground River Package Tour. Since we booked a package tour, we didn't have to pay individually for our lunch.
Taraw Restaurant's buffet table is at the middle of the compound surrounded by native-inspired lodging and picnic cottages. It has a beautiful beachfront with white sands. After lunch, tourists can take a dip there without extra charge.
Food taste is okay, but not extraordinarily delicious...Service is deplorable... Restrooms are yucky!

After our dinner at Badjao Seafront Restaurant, hubby was craving for coffee so we tried Itoy's Coffee Haus which our guide recommended to us when he learned that we were looking for Starbucks. Itoy's Coffee Haus is in the City Proper near the row of restaurants.
I noticed that yuppies (young professionals) and friends meet there.
Favorite Dish: I liked iced cappuccino & blueberry cheesecake
We couldn't get reservations at Ka Lui so we tried Kinabuchs Grill & Bar which was recommended by some tourists whom we met during our tours. Our Resort van brought us there, but it would be very easy to find even without shuttle service because it is along the main road. Kinabuchs is a big compound where one can choose to eat al fresco or in one of the dining halls. They have a giant flat screen TV at the open air dining area. There were already many diners when we came, but we were able to get a table near the bar. The waiters were alert and fast, but when droves of diners came later in the evening, it became so hard to call a waiter for additional orders; we even had to wait so long just to take our bill. Kinabuchs seems to be a popular night spot, too, that's why many people came past dinner time. They came for billiards and beer.
Favorite Dish: Many tourists go to Kinabuchs to try Palawan's much touted aphrodisiac, the "tamilok" but we didn't try that. We had a fruit platter, "kinilaw na isda", sizzling sirloin tips and seafoods "sisig". We liked all except the seafoods "sisig".
Aside from the improved service of hotel staff, one of the reasons why hubby and I developed a liking for Dangkalan Beach Resort is its food and amiable restaurant crew. We had free plated breakfast served by Dangkalan Beach Resort's in-house restaurant, a native-inspired cottage-like resto. We also ate some meals there whenever we were too tired to go to the City.
The restaurant's location near the beach and swimming pool makes one feel like having a picnic. While waiting for your food, you can stroll in the beach to get a whiff of fresh sea breeze or do some picture taking. If you don't feel like strolling, you can just watch any tv program you fancy. (They have a flat tv at the dining hall.) You can opt to eat inside their dining hall, or eat al fresco.
Favorite Dish: I liked their native dishes, but my favorite is the "pinaputok na isda". The fish is seasoned with oyster sauce, garnished with chopped tomatoes, onions and spices and wrapped in banana leaves, then deep-fried until you hear "crackling" ("pumuputok") sound.
There was no AC. The toilet is primitive. The seats were plastic. The utensils were mismatched. But Oh my Goodness! When the food arrived, the place didn't matter. I ordered the chicken hotpot. It was very delicious. The spice mix blended harmoniously without being pretentious. It wasn't over-the top, just right to tickle your palate. Nothing fancy. Even bordering on subtlety.
The rice noodles were home made and fresh. The broth was flavorful and the beef was tender. The Ramen was also very flavorful. The kind where you drink it to the last drop and lick the bottom of the bowl.
The downside is that this restaurant is 2 hours north of Puerto Princesa. You will be able to drop by this town if you take a road trip to El Nido since this town is a required stop.
Favorite Dish: All the soup dishes!
This restaurant opens at 5pm up. More a bar than restaurant. It has a very big projector screen which was showing the World Cup when we were there. Its open air so the mosquitos might be a bother to some. Ok food. Nothing to write home about.
The ambiance here is really great. Service is good. Toilets are clean. The food is good. Not all in their menu is good though. We went twice. The first night was so-so. The second time we went, we hit the jackpot.
Order the Sinigang ni Kaka soup and if you order seafood and they ask how you want it cooked, make it grilled. The gata and sizzler versions are not good and are pretentious. Sisig was not good. They tried to be inventive by putting mayonnaise but it wasn't a good mix. Any foreign cooking style like gambas is not recommended. Go local.
Favorite Dish: Sinigang ni Kaka, Tubattaha Salad. Grilled squid.
We had our dinner in Kinabuch. We ordered the usual Filipino food like kare-kare, Shrimp Tempura, Sinigang na baboy, and sisig. I suggest you to order a platter of rice instead of one rice per person if you really want to get full. The food is ok and nothing’s special. If you’re lucky the bar sometimes has a live band. After we had dinner, one of the guests in the restaurant is a foreigner who happens to be a friend of the current mayor in Palawan. He is using the electric tricycle that the mayor is promoting around the city. Without a second taught, I really asked the guest if I could ride and take a picture in the vehicle. Surprisingly he offered me to try the vehicle and drive it around. But we had a tiring day so I’m contented taking pictures with the electronic tricycle.
Prices are reasonable, excellent service, Very nice and clean restroom, and a UNIQUE way of eating experience. Two thumbs up for KaLui Restaurant!!!
Favorite Dish: First off, we headed to Kalui Restaurant. We ordered:
Kalui Special of the day set – four saucers of different kinds of viands. At first we got disappointed thinking we’ll eat a saucer of viand only. But to our surprise it’s just the set that was first served.
Tempura Kaka- veggies, fish and squid ala Tempura. It’s nice to eat because you don’t know which one of the 3 you’ll get.
Sinigang Kaka- instead of using other sour ingredients like tamarind, chef made a twist by using coconut juice.
Fresh buko juice
For the finale, the restaurant gave us a dessert of fresh fruits placed in the coconut shell.
TIP: I’d suggest you to do reservations before going in the restaurant. Also KaLui is closed during Sundays.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the City. A nature-inspired restaurant, this is one of the most frequented restaurant in the City both by locals and foreign guests even if it's located quite far from the City proper.
The restaurant offers Filipino and International Cuisines but they are famous for seafood dishes. Me and my friends favorite is their Comida B which includes Soup of the day, Grilled fish, Sizzling squid, Crabs with coco milk, Eggplant with coco milk, a platter of Rice and Fresh Fruits for dessert. That costs PhP950.00 and can already be enjoyed by a maximum of 4 persons.
Favorite Dish: Seafoods, vegetables, and almost everthing!
Ambiance is great... You may sit at the bar or if you prefer a little privacy, there are small huts which can accommodate about 6 persons.
Favorite Dish: They offer wide variety of food... chicken, pork/beef meat, local cuisine, seafoods...
A local delicacy called TAMILOK can be ordered here. Tamilok is wood worm that can be found in rotting mangrove branches.

The place is quite far from the city proper (about 15-20mins away) but I like it's ambiance... The staffs are very accommodating... since we had with us our 2yo son...
I guess buffet price is reasonable for PhP 250/person, drinks not included. And there's enough space for parking!
Favorite Dish: Bulalo of course! It's their specialty! And baked tahong... it has cheese!
Chicken Inato is just a stone throw away from Hibiscus Garden Inn where we stayed. Itnis the in house resto of balay Inato Pension House. The concept of the restaurant is a typical open air resto. Their food is really nice and the price is very reasonable.
