  • Trike for an affordable trip!

You may also wanna try to rent the trike of Mang Rey (0906-3235777). He is a friend of Sonny (owner of Four Angels trike) who was mentioned earlier on this trail. We recommend him 'cause he also knows alot about Palawan & Puerto Prinsesa specifically. Also, he worked formerly here in Manila & so quite familiar w/ happenings in the metro. Plus, he...

  • Van rental to any point of Palawan

[UPDATE 02-09: Joseph apparently lost his phone and he's got a new number. See it below. He also started a travel agency called Wildrock Tours.]We were lucky to be referred to Joseph Hidalgo by Sonny (the tricycle driver I mentioned here) when I asked about hiring a van for El Nido. So during my last visit to Puerto Princesa, we hired a van from...

  • Tryke Fare

Tryke is the main transportation around Puerto Princesa. A lot of the drivers are nice, polite and fair. Just make sure that you know how much a real trip to a particular place costs. Ask the locals. Some drivers jack up the prices. It's fine as long as it is not that high... but if it is enormous... set your foot down and haggle.

The Puerto Princesa Airport is a Municipal Type of Airport with 1 2,400 meter concrete runway that can accomodate even 747-Jumbo Jets (but most planes that fly here are just Boeing 737 and Airbus A 319's). The Departure area is Airconditioned but small and the Arrival Area has just 1 baggage conveyor and has no aircon. the airport is about a 15...

  • The bumpy grind to El Nido

The road to El Nido is lush green and an all-day gentle rain filled the road with puddles – even to the point of fording a foot-tall stream which ended in a tail-pounding slam to the rear of the vehicle. The road is paved about ½ the way, packed gravel the rest. Like many Asian buses, it made as many stops as there were passengers and we went from...

  • Tricycle around Puerto Princesa

Since the best transportation around Puerto Princesa is the tricycle (and they go everywhere), it will be good to have a contact that you can hire to bring you around. If you're going to DIY the Underground River tour, be sure to be at the San Jose terminal before 7am so you can catch the earliest jeepney going to Sabang. It leaves at 7am and fare is only P150 one-way.But you have to be ready for the really tight, plenty of stops, jolty ride. At least you experience how the locals live :)

The tricy is the usual wheels around PP. They charge P40 from airport to accom, P400 roundtrip to the Honda Bay jetty, P20-30 to the shops in the city. And this is my only issue with PP... The tricy drivers seem to think all tourists have loads of money and jack up the fare when the locals pay only P6. Altho we paid the P40 from the airport to...
