If it's just Araneta Center, it's a generally safe place...most of the places are safe, but you'll never know if there are lurkers there....don't pass the streets without lamposts...it's better safe than sorry, right?
If you don't have a choice but to walk alone, be sure to pass by busy roads.

Since Quezon City is a big place, there are a lot of people, residents and as well as passers by.
The Araneta Center is one of those places jammed pack specially on holidays, and the night before a long weekend vacation. A lot of travelers go to the place to their rides back to their hometowns.
When there's too much crowd, there are more chances of snatchers.
Unique Suggestions: Don't go with the masses. Schedule your visits on these places on regular days...weekends are Ok as long as not on those described above.
Fun Alternatives: Stay at home or go to another place. You can go to other malls nearby.
