Somebody killed this Monkey-Eating Eagle! Sad...

by jumpingnorman

I enlarged this picture of the endangered Philippine Eagle nicknamed "Kagsabua" (meaning "unity" ) from Getty Pictures. One of the tallest and strongest birds on earth!Sadly, this bird on this very picture was found DEAD after it was released into the wild (a few days later) by efforts to save the species (year 2008). His body parts were found in the forest with his transmitter --- it is so sad that somebody killed him. Why? Authorities are looking for Kagsabua’s killer.Just a few hundred (maybe less than 300) of these eagles are left on our planet. Originally called Monkey-eating Eagle, the name was changed to Philippine Eagle because it also ate other animals such as colugo, civets, large snakes, monitor lizards, and even large birds like hornbills. It became the national bird in 1995, but had been recognized as a great Philippine treasure way before that. The birds reproduce slowly,...

EDSA corner Quezon Ave is a place for you. If your interest is planting vegetables or caring for a fruit bearing tree, the Seed Bank of Quezon City is a place to be with. It has all you need including a refreshment kiosk.

Craving for soothing massage?

Quezon City has the most exotic and most erotic massage places. But that is not what you want! You want real massage. Besides, you cannot afford its astronomical rates. And even if you can, you do not wish to throw your money down the drain. So where can you get the real massage? The Quezon City Hall!!Yes, go straight where the Hall is and before you reach the main building, you will see the blind yellow-shirted masseurs. They are handicapped, blind, deaf but able to help themselves earn a living. And they massage so well. And how much do they charge for a 45 minute job? ***ing 1.5$ for a half-body service and 3$ for a full body massage! They do home service for approx 9$ per person. Cheaper when two person will be served..Ahhhhh...Quezon City!

I spent more than half my life (17 years to be exact!) at the UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES Main Campus in Diliman, Quezon City, from the third grade to high school to college to law school: there's not enough space to tell you about all the fond memories I have of this place! On 12 February 1949, a motorcade made its way from Padre Faura, Manila all the way to a cogon-strewn expanse in Quezon City. At its head, borne on an open vehicle, was the Oblation, the bronzed symbol of the University of the Philippines, on its way to its new home. This ceremony marked the university's transfer from its original site in Manila (c. 1908) to its 493-acre campus in Diliman, which would have more room for the University's expansion as it fulfilled its role as educator to the nation.Fifty two years later, the main campus of the most prestigious university in the Philippines is home to diverse...

Every year on 15 May, the small town of Lucban in Quezon Province is transformed from an ordinary place to a magical one. The people there decorate the outside of their houses with pahiyas (precious offerings) as part of the feast day celebration to honor the patron saint of the Filipino farmer, San Isidro Labrador. Pahiyas include rice, fruit and vegetables, and nowadays, even hats and baskets (the produce of cottage industry!)
