Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box for 2 $6.50
1 more image

I love Japanese food because its healthy and delicious. However, Japanese meals tend to be more expensive compared to other dishes.

Then i discovered SushiYa.

Their first branch in the Tomas Morato opened almost 10years ago. With 4 tables and a sashimi/sushi chiller, they served the freshest sashimi tuna $2 and salmon $2.50 at affordable prices.

Fast forward 10 years. They have more items in the menu--tempura, teppanyaki and teriyaki. I love their squid teppanyaki $2 and chicken teriyaki $2. I also crave for their torikatsudon $2. I love their chicken Teriyaki Bento box for 2 at $ 6.50. Includes 2 rice, 2 miso soup, main course, kakiage, mix maki, mix sashimi, agedashi tofu.

Their place in Tomas Morato is compact, clean, bright & airy. They have now branched out in most major malls, SM Mega Mall, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, Market! Market and non mall areas like Libis and Westgate Alabang. The best SushiYa i have seen so far is their Market Market and Westgate branch -- clean, compact and zen like atmosphere. Casual but not shockingly young. Bright interiors but comfortbaly inviting.

Consistent Food. Affordable Price. Casual and comfortable interiors. Freindly Service.
That to me is SushiYa.

I have tried other Japanese restos. But I keep coming back. To SushiYa.

Favorite Dish: Torikatsudon : Breaded Chicken Breast Rice Topping. It's so delicous and at $2 it's a steal.

Squid teppanyaki Bento for 2 : $4.50. I share this when am with my hubby.

Chirashidon : sashimi slices on sushi rice. My healthy yet filling alternative at $3.

beek kebab and keema

Open air resto with fans overhead. Tables are unique, tiles depicting different pictures, protected by a glass. They are open 24/7 but service is a bit slow.

Favorite Dish: I love the beef kebab, slices of beef with tomatoes, cucumbers and the extra cheese wrapped in toasted pita bread. They also serve sizzling chicken barbeque with gravy, buttered rice and slices of tomatoes and cucumber at the side. Keema and Yogurt shake are also favorites.

max's restaurant: sayur asam = sampaloc soup = tom yam!

sampaloc soup (c) ukirsari

beside chicken sisig, my choice goes to sampaloc soup. tom yam look-alike but lighter since without chili oil in it. and the taste, exactly the same with light tamarind soup in my country [we call it as sayur asam]. the difference only our sayur asam without prawn.
and it's very funny whenever i give comment in my lingo "oh, sayur asam, ya?" and aida reply with "is asam means tamarind? in our lingo tamarind known as sampaloc." well, more similarity about its lingo :D

max's restaurant: chicken specialities and separated table

chicken sisig (c) ukirsari

the meals are truely pinoy and they offers many kind of delicacies made from chicken. since emie and i aren't eating pork, aida and friends decided to go to max's. thanks a lot :) and they have separated table inside the dining hall. means a big group can be more private in here -- like celebrating birthday and meeting-- since not so noisy!

Favorite Dish: chicken sisig. very delicious from the beginning with simple but chic presentation. added with lemon as topping!

Oyster Boy Restaurant

The restaurant is located in the Araneta Center Complex.

I like the ambiance of this restaurant. It has large sedan chairs, cozy lights, water goblets, soft jazz or acoustic pipe-in music. At night, there are stainless chairs outside the restaurant, and groups of yuppies drink a beer or two.

Favorite Dish: Sinigang (fish, pork, shrimps cooked in sour broth)
Grilled squid stuffed with tomatoes and onions
Seaweed (pako) salad
Not to be missed of course is their baked oysters in garlic and cheese
Everything is delicioso!

New Japanese restaurant at the Tomas Morato Street.

Authentic Japanese style with a Filipino touch.

Serving should be studied a bit more and presented according to order.

Hot Chawanmushi must be eaten hot.

Favorite Dish: 1. Ofunamori Sashimi
2. Hot Chawanmushi
3. Several tempura, whereas Kani was best

AQUAHEALTH Alkaline-ionized water.
Studies Shows that drinking water that passes through Reverse Osmosis and Distillation is NOT good for your body because it takes everything away in the water including valuable minerals and considered ACIDIC. The good news is that AQUAHEALTH has created a new technology needed to solve this problem - The Alkaline-ionized water.

Another place I adore is ARESI , one of the most elegant yet surprisingly affordable restaurants in the Quezon City-Tomas Morato-ABS CBN area. Faaaantaaastic place!
The ambiance and the food. Enough said. But they've got built in water falls on the walls...the works!

Favorite Dish: Their sugar-free Strawberry Cheesecake . All the fun without the carbs! A place after my own heart!

MOOMBA. I'd passed this place...

MOOMBA. I'd passed this place countless times before I actually had dinner in it...from the outside, it looked a little too intimidating to venture into and my wallet was shy. But what a pleasant experience it turned out to be (and not very expensive at all)!
The decor is TO DIE FOR. Anyone considering redecorating their house should visit this place first to steal some of their fantastic ideas :) Too bad I'd almost finished redoing my place when I first visited! The first floor is like an expanded living room with lots of huge, comfy couches to curl up in. Fabulous lighting...they actually have candles in tiny niches in the wall (the soot from the flame adds even more character!)

Favorite Dish: The pasta's supposedly pretty good (but don't take my word for it as I'm off carbo for the moment), and they have a wide selection of risottos and entrees (including ostrich!).
