New Orleans: Listen to some Jazz ....

by whvcebu

Located in the Greenbelt of Makati along Legaspi Street. Cosy atmosphere with good old New Orleans Jazz, a trumpet player - trying to imitate the voice of old Satchmo. My preference are the excellent steaks and Barbecue Rips.

Greenwich: My favorite pizza pasta fastfood

by arni_ph075

Greenwich Pizza , its the number one pizza chain in the country having more than 200 stores. Its all over the metropolis and key cities in the country... being owned now by the owner of Jollibee, it becomes one of the fastest growing pizza place.. Bigger than Pizza Hut or Shakeys..The food is great, there is a variety of pizza, pasta and rice dishes it offer... Almost on monthly basis, there is a new product being introduced.. The pizza's is truly cater to the taste of Filipino, sweet and full of toppings.. Lasagna, Baked Macaroni and Spaghetti are some of the pasta dishes..Stores are always clean, well lighted, spacious, staff are always nice & efficient. The waiting time for pizza is always just short, probably because of pizza are thin crust..The store come out now with meal for only 59 pesos or approx 1 US dollar. Chicken wings, java rice, macaroni salad and regular coke. Really...

Jollibee: Over 400 stores (and counting) around the country

by arni_ph075

Jollibee is the country's leading fast food chain. Its the brand that beats Mc Donald's and only (I think) in the Philippines that a local fast food company beats Mc Donald. The stores are well lighted, spacious, and colorful, and considered to be child friendly.. Almost all kids in the country dream of kiddie party with Jollibee.. Service is fast, but there is always a long queue at the counter. (lots of people and kids). I avoid it on weekends.Jollibee is special to almost all Filipinos including me, because its Filipino owned and captures the local taste buds. Chicken Joy is my favorite, its fried chicken that is so crispy, and tasty..They also got spaghetti, but its sweet, best liked by children.. Pancit Palabok is one of my other favorite, its good.. The burgers like Yum are not one of their strong points.. its not like the usual American burger taste, its different

Mom's: A Pinoy treat - Turon (Banana fritters)

by high_d

I'm sure this treat can be had at some Filipino restaurants but this one is from one of my fave places to eat--- my Mom's kitchen! This treat is called "turon". My mom makes it by using plantain bananas coated with sugar and as an extra yummy feature, she adds pieces of sweet jack fruit then wraps them in egg-roll wrappers. It's fried until golden brown. One of my favorite Filipino "meryenda" (snack). Maybe you would like to try this treat?

Kamayan Restaurant: Philippines has every mouth-watering dishes

by cyberhunk

Philippines has every lovely restaurants big and small with delectable, mouth-watering dishes. I like trying every kind of restaurants from the sidewalk carenderia or turo-turo, open-air food joints (al fresco) to the expensive restaurants. However, some of these restaurants captured my heart and of course, my stomach. I cannot rank them for i love them all. I like Kamayan restaurant for their native specialties, as well as Cabalen. I also love to eat at WokInn in Malate (their pinsek prito or fried wonton and stuffed squid... oohh i love the sweet and hot taste of it), Pilugaw (katipunan) for their crispy tokwat-baboy(fried mixture of pork and tofu with vinegar, onion and soy sauce) and their big bowl of congee. Another one is Anahaw Grill ( dunno if it still exists), they have a wide variety of seafoods for grill, fried or steam and its very cheap too. Next is ChinaTown in Banawe...

Karenderya Foods/ Turo-turo: Kamayan Foods( Barehands)

by yen_2

As Philippines is located in SEA(South East Asia) , there's always this tag that there's a common traits after all, a street foods..stalls along the busy highways, but it's good to try some of them but just be careful! In my country, you can take your breakfast, lunch, and dinner in those small Karendirya's(Restaurants) which are mostly family owned and it's very cheap! Why would you take your eating time in those cloned fastfoods that can be found also in your place back home..as a tourist, I guess, trying another cuisines isn't that bad and also Filipino foods has alot of foods that can be bragged off! But someone in here told me he don't like Filipino foods we'll sorry...but love it and will love it always!!! Sinigang(Tamarind Broth) with Lapu-lapu(milkfish) ...And Adobo and Fried gay crabs too:-) and and and..We have great foods too but still love thai foods!
