Hello how are you?: Fruit Vendors on the Beach

by herzog63

At all of the popular beaches will have fruit vendors that pass through from time to time selling all kinds of local specialties. My favorite in the Philippines is the Cheeko! Some people don't like them but I can easily eat 1-4 kilos of these things per day!! The last time I went to the Philippines my mother in-law bought me a my very own crate of them! It was hilarious but they were all eaten!! The fruits will cost a bit more on the beach than they would in the local market but they are still quite affordable. Another favorite of mine is the Gayabano. I only like to eat Gayabano if I'm at the beach because it is so juicy I usually make a mess of it and go for a swim after I'm done eating it. Mangos,Pineapple, papaya, bananas (try the little red ones) the list goes on and on!!

Toro-Toro - Great taste and Great value!

by herzog63

Toro-Toro Restaurants are great especially if you don't know what you want to eat and want to try local specialties! As toro-toro literally translates to Point-Point so just pull the top of the pot and look inside. You can choose from several dishes. This way you can find out what you like or don't like or what you like best! These toro-toro restaurants are very popular with the locals too!! Most all dishes are available at under $1 US Pork Adobo, Sinigang Bangus, hmmmm the list goes on and on and on! Hhaha I have so many favorites!

Josephine's, Tagaytay City: Filipino food?

by bratinette

The weather in Tagaytay is great. The restaurant walls are mostly in glass, so the beautiful view of Tagaytay could be seen from inside. The service is really good too. Order their Mutya ng Cavite, best soup ever!

Thai In a Box: Best Thai food! good service!

by bratinette

great interior. very cold airconditioning... matches their spicy food. best thai food..very affordable price! try their seafood rice...it's the best. It's like the real fried rice from the streets of bangkok! Order cold taho for the dessert! Yum

Sonya's Garden: Enjoy the Garden

by D._Pepper

This is a place to be enjoyed, not just for the food, but also for the ambience. Stay until dark, and then go stargazing or just pick a nice spot in the garden for the most quiet and peaceful experience within an hour and a half of Manila.

Sonya's Garden: Dine al fresco

by D._Pepper

The garden setting sets the tone for the almost vegetarian fare that you'll get at Sonya's. Dinner is the best time to go, to catch the sunset, and enjoy the colors of the garden. There's a set menu that doesn't change. Fresh greens with the most imaginative dressings to start with, then pasta with a mix it yourself topping/sauce. Bottomless dayap (local citrus) juice to wash down the meal. Dessert consists of local delicacies prepared very cleverly. And mint tea ends the delightful meal.

Mc Donald's: They really do try!...a little bit too hard

by syllybabe

Mc Donald's has been known to add items on their menu to suit the palate of the country where they are in.In the Philippines, they started out by adding Mc Spaghetti because of the love of Filipinos for this particular dish and they recreated their hamburger to become Burger McDo which tastes more like something we're used to rather than their bland burger patties. All this effort is also spurred on by the fact that Jollibee, a local fast food chain, just can't be toppled as number one in the country because their food just tastes more...filipino, I guess.Mc Donald's did the funniest things recently and I just couldn't stop laughing everytime I pass the one about 200m from our house.Several months ago they came up with Arroz Caldo with Chicken which really surprised me because that was kinda off from whatever they usually serve. I tried it and liked it so, cool. They did well on that...

My favourite dish.

by EricLe_Rouge

Fillipino chicken with garlic.Adobo is the national dish of the Phillipines. Most warm-weather countries have through the centuries developed recipes that preserve food while flavouring it. This dish is different than many because of its strong component of vinegar. It is at once sour, salty, and drenched in garlic. Chicken adobo.

typical restaurants and eating...

by slaybelle

typical restaurants and eating placesBreakfast --- fresh fruits or you can have your choice of the hearty Filipino breakfast consist of rice, eggs, tocino(baconstyle),juices, fruits and coffee. Since the island cater to international tourists, you can have your choice but I recommend the daily seafood that is bought daily, sometimes brought infront of you as these fishermen stroll by to sell their selections.
