only restaurant on the island....but what a way to go. They catered an incredible meal for a special birthday in our villa one night that was the highlight of the trip. We had some friends from London join us and it was perfect. They even supplied a guitar player fresh fish from the bay

Sky's The Limit: Sky's The Limit

by boyeths

Sky's The Limit is an open ground found in the heart of Tagbilaran City where several stalls and tables owned by different small-scaled proprietors. They only operate at night-time; at 6:00 pm to 4:30 am. Some stalls offer wine--native wine known as 'tuba' and 'kinutil'. Their prices are more affordable that's why common folks patronizes their eatery. they served grilled fish, grilled meat, barbecues, sausage, rice which common folks call as puso.

Some of the best Filipino food...

by imho

Some of the best Filipino food (which I consider great buys) can be had at Diners' along the Tagaytay Highway. Also, a visit to Baguio City is not complete without a meal at Jade Restaurant (along Marcos Highway) and Bonoan (Happy Glenn Loop, behind Baguio Cathedral).Great value for your money! Sure, many restaurants serve good food, but price is always a consideration...these places really hit the spot if you don't have too many pesos to throw around. At Diners', the famous bulalo (shank stew) dipped in lots of patis (fish sauce), kalamansi (lemon), and chilis! Really hits the spot, especially with a side order of tawilis (a fish native only to Taal lake).Jade makes the best binagoongan (pork in fish paste) and sinigang na isda (fish in sour stock).Bonoan of course serves the best bangus (milkfish) dishes, as well as a scrumptious ensalada of green mango, broiled eggplant, seaweed,...

Barrio Food.Try a local eatry...

by BLSM

Barrio Food.Try a local eatry in the markets. Calamari(squid) and pansit(noodles and meat or fish or shrimp) and lumpia(egg rolls).Jack fruit is good. Durian(a fruit)is not a great as fillipinos say it is. Watch the little bitty peppers. Fillipinos put them in vinigar and use them as a hot sauce. Watch the local homemade liquer. In eastern Mindinao it is Tuba, fermented juice. Every region has their own.It is real wicked. Fillipinas do not drink, but Men are expected to. A male friend was not accepted by the Fillipios because he would not drink either the San Migual beer or the local stuff. Unitl he provided he was a man by drinking 2- liter bottles of Coke in an evening.

If you want to get a taste of...

by talullah

If you want to get a taste of Philippine's scrumptious seafood without leaving the city, you have to try eating at Dampa in Paranaque. This place is not for the sensitive, though, as the whole experience is not the same without buying the fresh seafood from the wet market yourself! So you better bring somebody who knows how to shop for fresh seafoods with you... Also, make sure you already have a dish in mind when shopping for the ingredients since you will be asking the restaurants surrounding the wet market to cook it according to your liking. This is a really cheap place to enjoy great seafood since you're actually buying the food at market price (just add a little for the cooking charged at the restaurant). Buttered shrimps, baked mussels, grilled tuna, calamari, grilled squid. Yum!!

You have to try...

by PeterSt

You have to try Balut....boiled goose eggs a week or 4 before they hatch. Tip...don't try to pull the feathers out of your mouth...not too many feathers...just a few small ones. Eat and enjoy. The best are on Palawan Island. I did it once....never again!! You are next!Interesting taste for sure...and the locals will love you for trying (and enjoying) their local cuisine. Show them how much you love it. Its ok...not an endangered species.

Hmmm... let me think, oh yeah...

by SnowAngel

Hmmm... let me think, oh yeah I remember now, it was the guy in road vendor number three selling 'monkey on a stick'. Monkey on a stick... I don't think it was really monkey meat, but you never know. Either way, it was delicious. When in Rome....You should also try the 'lumpia' which the Philippines are famous for. If you've never had true homemade lumpia, you are missing out!!
