by AusPinay

Clothes, shoes, electronic items, DVDs, games, designer items , original or knock off, you can get practically anything in my beloved country! There is a mall near you wherever you stay- be it the big city or big provinces. The malls are huge so wear comfy shoes/thongs are perfect! There are also 200 peso shops- like two dollar shops in Sydney! So when you go to Manila, where most foreign flights embark/connect to other places in the Philippines, just bring a near empty suitcase/s! Trust me you ill be amazed at the variety of goods all at very reasonable prices, good quality mostly too depending on the prices you pay!Better still, you will need to buy new luggage I bet ya!The fashion is also more trendy and up-to-date compared to Sydney!BUDGET SHOPPING AT ITS BEST! Clothes, shoes, trendy accessories for your mobile phones, electronic items/gadgets, souvenirs, anything really are good...

Pan de Manila: Romancing the Bread: Hot Pandesal!

by Kisses&Co

Filipino tradition defines the design of the new stores of Pan de Manila—the bakery chain that brought back the traditional way of baking pandesal. Stained glass is affixed on the façade of the store, illustrating the classic design commonly found in atypical colonial houses. Wrought iron and grill works are likewise generously appointed with a whimsical twist, to add character to the store shelves that carry Pan de Manila’s favorite breads and baked treats. The store concept reflects the essence of the classic pandesal, which has always been enjoyed by Filipinos during breakfast for generations. At Pan de Manila, they can enjoy a wide range of breads that use only quality ingredients and are made the traditional way—baked meticulously inside a "PUGON" - brick-oven. Pandesal is a rounded bread usually eaten by Filipinos during breakfast. It is a bread made of flour, eggs, lard, yeast,...

Shopping in Manila

by Orange_traveller

The best place to go to is the Greenhills shopping center. This is located at Ortigas area. All the taxi drivers know this place since it is a very popular place in Manila. Here you will find everything from women's, men's and children's clothes to shoes to pearls to cellphones. It is best to go here early around 930am to avoid the crowd. You will find hundreds of stalls and shops. They sell export overruns from A & F, Aeropostale, gap, old navy, victoria's secret, nike etc. at a very affordable price! A shirt would cost about 300-500 pesos that is $ 7-10. You might find also some 100 peso shirts that is of good quality here! If you are into pearls, this is the place to be. You can get rice water pearls, South sea pearls at a very reasonable price. Don't worry, these pearls are real. Here, you will also find, imitation rubber shoes from Nike and Addidas and imitation bags from LV, Gucci,...

Tita Lynn's Suman: So, What's your Flavor?

by KookieDough

Suman is a sticky rice concoction that serves either as dessert or snack in the Philippines. Yes, this is similar to the sticky rice versions you see in Thailand and in other countries in this part of Asia.I normally don't go for the flavored varieties of native foods, because most of the time the flavoring destroys the authentic taste of the food. However, this is an exception, mainly because it tastes great.Tita Lynn's Suman are sold in kiosks in malls. The ones that I have visited are in the Food Village of Tiendesitas in Pasig City and in the food court of Market Market at The Fort in Taguig City. For me, the best varieties are Macapuno and Cocomas. Macapuno is a softer variety of the coconut fruit. It is usually cooked in sugar and served as flavor enhancement of Filipino desserts. With suman, I can say that it really does that job.The regular suman in the Philippines is really...

La Cocina de Tita Moning: Quezo de Bola in a Bottle

by KookieDough

La Cocina de Tita Moning is known to sell food made from recipes handed down by the owners' grandmother, Tita Moning. They actually started with a specialty restaurant in Manila, where you can dine for lunch or dinner by reservation only. They now sell vinaigrettes and other bottled specialties that you can buy for yourself or to give as a gift to your family and friends. Must buy the Quezo de Bola spread. Even those who do not like Quezo de Bola will love this. It does not have the strong smell of the original cheese variety, but still has that taste that runs through your jaw and is, at the same time, creamy. For me, it is great on crostinis and other crusty breads. The 200g bottle costs 200PHP, while the 300g costs 300PHP.
