  • Mahogany Public Market - Tagaytay
    Mahogany Public Market

Mahogany Public Market is home of the famous Tagaytay beefmeat. Need I say more?

Beefmeat, fresh fruits and vegetables, ornamental flowers and grafted fruit-bearing trees [Guimaras mango tree? They got 'em here!].

The beefmeat price is generally the same as anywhere else but the quality is tops. Fresh fruits and vegetables are cheap. A big bunch of freshly harvested Senorita banana goes for P50 (US$1) only. Grafted fruit-bearing trees [really interesting if you have spacious yard] go from P50 to P150 each.

The largest concentration of roadside fruit vendors in Tagaytay are found near the old city market , along the road leading to Santa Rosa City (Laguna). Other than the sweet pineapples, Tagaytay's Senorita bananas are abound as well and popular to visitors. Buy them (the bananas) while still greenish because they get ripened so easily.

Bananas. Pineapples. Mangoes. Rambutan. Papayas. Guyabanos. Even imported fruits like Fuji apples, oranges, ponkan, etc...

Two big basketful of assorted local fruits for only P200. More or less.

Another good reason to visit Tagaytay is to shop for plants and flowers to decorate your homes and gardens. Lovely floras are on display along the roadside, either left or right of the rotunda.

    Ornamental plants and flowers.

  • You can buy an assortment of fruits along Tagaytay hi-ways. You can find fruit stalls along the way, selling mangoes, bananas, pineapple, and other fruits in season.

  • The nuns from the Good Shepherd Convent make these delicious ube (yam) and fruit jams.

around 100-200 pesos a jar of jam. However, the nuns limit the number of bottled jams you buy.
