flower farm

by jon929

with the tempting ads placed in the daily papers about this hideway in tagaytay, i and the rest of our family including my 80 year old mother who loves gardening and blooms, went off to the flower farm yesterday morning, may 01. entrance fee is P100 per person- steep- but i thought maybe i'll be amazed at what i'll see inside. we joined the farm tour give by this guy gerry. we were brought to different nurseries that had anything but flowers. there were ordinary, sorry looking bromeliads , ornamental asparagus, and ficus. the only nurseries that had flowers at all (mums and gerberas) were off-limits. the sun was searing hot and the tour was so uninspiring. a flower farm with no flowers!! in the shop where there were bundles of mums and roses, i asked a worker the way to the rose garden so at least the girls in the group can have their photos taken. the poor guy had to admit that the...

Don't be fooled that it's a true Beef Meat

by Roswald

Not all beef vendors in Mahogany are honest. We once bought a kilo of supposed to be 'laman ng baka' for a kare-kare. He told us many differences and similarity of these two meats, but sad to say, it's not noticeable with ordinary consumers like us. Magkaiba daw ang taba or sebo, hibla or fiber ng laman, amoy, etc., etc. One thing more, kailangan sundan mo kamay ng vendor, may switching kasi. My mother was convinced to buy giving her the option to choose the meat part she wants. When we went home, the meat was luma and makunat, napalitan ng iba without even noticing it while it was being weighed. We are so disappointed, may mga nanloloko talaga kahit saan. You can tell the vendor 'talagang Baka to ah, or else isosoli ko sa yo to'. Better buy a miminum...

People's Park

by JaneCajuguiran

Formerly the home-in-the-making of President Marcos' family, this mansion has been turned into a park. But it has not been well maintained and in fact the place is the haven of different insects. The toilets stink and the area is generally dirty. Better go ride the horses instead.
