Manila, an always noisy and over-populated mega-city without really remarkable sightseeings. For a tourist a couple of days are enough for Manila. Worth to see is the small historical area of "Intramurous"where you can stroll. Don`t miss to visit the Rizal Park there. I was highly surprised to find such a calm place in this city.

On 15th June 1991 it came to an enormous eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. The clouds of steam and detritus was shot up to 40 km into the straosphere. The result of this catastrophe: 900 fatalities, 40.000 destroyed houses and 250.000 homeless people.Guided one-day crater tours start from Angeles by Jeep. From the end of the road it takes about 2 1/2 hours by feet to the crater. Very impressive the grey mass of coagulated material and ash which can reach heights of up to 100m.

Take a direct bus from Manila to Alaminos and from there a trycycle to Lucap. From there you can hire a boat for a one-day trip to the Hundred Islands National Park. Maybe they made a failure by counting them... there are exactly 123 dream islands in a crystal clear water.

To get detailed information about these islands, please click on the underlined places below.I brought home lovely anthuriums from Davao, picked pineapples and savored tuna in Cotabato, bought decorative earthen vases in Cagayan de Oro, and enjoyed the scenic mountain route from Butuan to Surigao. With so many islands, come different dialects and tribes. Surallah near Lake Sebu is the main municipality of the Tiboli tribe which is famous for its metalwork. Can you hear the trinket that rings like little bells on my arm? Hey, I'm the lady in a blue blouse!Cool climate at an altitude of 1000m, picturesque lake, cheap accommodation (P25 with kitchen and 2 bedrooms), cheap tilapia (P20/kilo, cooked anywhich way you like). Who can ask for more?

To get detailed information about these islands, please click on the underlined places below.I've been stranded in the Callao Caves of Tuguegarao, walked the cobbled streets of Vigan, prayed that Philippines will be debt-free in the baroque churches of Laoag, almost surfed in La Union and enjoyed the cool pine scent of Baguio. We've also distributed relief goods to lahar-striken Pampanga. We saw friendly whales in Subic, peered through clear waters of Puerto Galera, marvelled at the stalactites, stalagmites and karst mountains of Palawan.

To get detailed information about these islands, please click on the underlined places below.I got inspired by the murals in Dauis church in Bohol. I wished for a bf in a Taoist temple in Cebu, visited old colonial houses of sugar barons in Bacolod , ate cholesterol-laden batchoy in Iloilo, promenaded along the coast of Dumaguete, built castles out of the powdery-white sand of Boracay and waited for Mc Arthur to return in Leyte.
