It is important to be friendly. And at the same time, be aware of where you are. Zamboanga is a great place to visit. Fort Pilar, the beautiful national park, Pasononca is worth seeing. This place is a mix of cultures. Christian, Muslim and so there is also the problem with radical groups causing problems.

Not so much as a Warning. But, just a careful reminder to not act like the all knowing, ugly American while here or any other place for that matter. It will cause you problems.

And as he said. No taxis. You will be using Jeepney's, Trycicles, Pedicabs, and vans. Are you ready for that.... if so. Please have someone that speaks Tagalog. Have fun! Its a great place to visit.

NO TAXIS IN ZAMBOANGA

This isn't really a WARNING as much as it is a mere advisory. Keep in mind that Zamboanga does not have any taxis. SO don't expect yellow cabs to pull up once you leave the airport. Most people leaving the airport (locals anyway) take a tricycle to town, which isn't too far away anyway. So pack light.
