Climate & Weather

by StayNuts

At only 135km (85 miles) north of the Equator, the weather is usually sunny with no distinct seasons. However, most rainfall occurs during the north-east monsoon (November to January). Showers are usually sudden and heavy but also brief and refreshing, although humidity is uncomfortably high at this time of year. In summer, forest fires in neighbouring Sumatra can also cause heavy haze.Singapore is warm and humid year round, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20C (68F), even at night, and usually climbing to 30C (86F) during the day. Recent times, it even reached till 35C. Humidity is high, mounting over a 75% mark. The temperature averages around:* 26C (79F) daytime, 24C (76F) at night in December and January* 31C (89F) daytime, 26C (80F) at night for the rest of the year.November and December is the rainy season. June-August is considered to be the best time to visit, but...

safe sojourn

by vpas

The best thing about Singapore is that thanks to their stringent laws,it is a very safe country.Unlike in many other places that I have been to the cab drivers do not cheat or take longer routes to fleece more money!By and large the people are helpful and ethical.

Stay in Geylang an save money.

by Terje1966

The hotels in the Lorong streets next to Geylang Road are really inexpensive. I stayed at the Fragrance hotel in Lorong 10(or something) and did not pay much. I also ate for as little as 3 Singapore dollar including a coca cola.I spent a few evenings/nights wandering around in Gelylang Road and the Lorong streets and feeling safe and secure and the streets were crowded with people that were shopping and eating.Geylangs connection with the city center was also easy and cheap. The SMRT from Changi airport to city center is passing Geylang and the station name is Aljunied. Price to Raffles place or city center is a little more than 1 Singapore dollar andit runs ewery 5 minutes.

Singapore Changi Airport

by xuessium

Singapore Changi Airport has been voted World's Best Airport for 2005-2006 and 2nd best in 2007 by popular votes on SKYTRAX. Free Internet, a clean and efficient system, great shopping, lots of eateries and cafes, a transit hotel (more details below) inside the airport and grander and newer designs for the newer terminals all added up. Also the place you will first and last see Singapore. There are 2 transit hotels within the airport compounds (in Terminals 2 and 3), so that folks doing a transit who has no wish of stepping out into Singapore (ie, you need not clear customs) can get some rest or a night sleep. The Crowne Plaza Hotel is now located next to Terminal 3, making it the closest hotel to the airport. On 26 March 2006, the no-frills Budget Terminal opened in Changi Airport. (Yes, it is called Budget Terminal by virtue of a Nationwide Naming Contest) The terminal is about a 5...
