Experience an Asian thunderstorm, Jurong Park

 kyoub Says:  Right about now your thinking a shower would be nice. Get to the South-East Asian Bird Aviary before noon. There is a rainforest thunderstorm there every day at 12.00. You will hear thunder then watch it rain. There are over 100 species of birds in this aviary.

Flamingos

Penguin feeding

 kyoub Says:  If you are starting to get a little warm from being out in the heat for hours, it is a good time to see the Penguins. There are over 200 penguins in the air conditioned exibit. If you are lucky you will get there around feeding time.

South American Toucans

Southeast Asian Hornbills

 kyoub Says:  One of the highlights in the park is the world's largest collection of Southeast Asian Hornbills. I have been to many places looking for these birds and here they are all in one place. These birds are in cages not in the open aviary.

 kyoub Says:  Hurry, it is almost time to watch the bird feeding. They seem to know what time it is and they are already showing up.

 kyoub Says:  Within the grounds of the walk-in aviary, you will find a 30m man-made water fall. Stand nearby and cool off a bit. There is a lot more to see! 

World's largest walk-in aviary

 kyoub Says:  Get off the monorail at the walk-in aviary. It has over 1500 birds all flying around in the trees, eating some fruit that has been put there for them, some are building nest. You will be amazed. 

Meet the Parrots

 kyoub Says:  As you enter into the park you will hear lots of noises. This is the parrots, all there to greet you. There are many beautiful birds there. Some you can hold and have your picture taken with.

Get to the park when they open and enjoy your breakfast watching the birds on the lake plus a bird show. A buffet breakfast is served frrom 9-11 in the lakeside restaurant.

Favorite Dish: The food and service was very good. The show was entertaining.

Transportation  

Ride the monorail

Ride the monorail, Jurong Park

 kyoub Says:  An air-conditioned monorail tours the park. It cost around S$2.50 for adults and S$1.00 for children. There are good views while riding but the best way to see the birds is get off and walk. 

Take the city bus

Take the city bus, Jurong Park

 kyoub Says:  At Boon Lay Station, you get on bus # 194 or #251. It will take you within walking distance of the bird park 

Shopping

Bald eagle

There are several open air shops before you get to the exit gate..Stop and look around at the many t-shirts and bird items sold there.

Favorite thing: The walk-in aviary covers 5 acres of land and it has over 1500 birds.
I like to look for the little birds, they are harder to see.

Fondest memory: I was just amazed at all the birds in beautifully kept surrounds.
