Explore Kampong Sungai Pandan
Clementi New Town
victorwkf Says:
This is one of the housing estates in Singapore, with a shopping area at the town centre located along Commonwealth Avenue West. There is also a big bus interchange as well as the MRT sub-way system which can link you directly to the city area.
Choo Choo Trek 7: Chinese temple
victorwkf Says:
After acrossing the railway bridge over the Pandan River, there is a small Chinese temple next to the path near to housing flat block 305 of Clementi Avenue 4. Due to other commitments, I have to stop my trek here while the other people in my group continued from here...
Choo Choo Trek 7: Across the Pandan River
victorwkf Says:
The highlight of the Choo Choo Trek must be walking along the bridge crossing the Pandan River. From here, you can see the housing estate of Clementi New Town, the river as well as people doing exercises, recreational activities etc along the river below you.
Choo Choo Trek 6: Wider open spaces
victorwkf Says:
After crossing the bridge over Sunset Way road, the path opens to wider open spaces where you can see more housing flats next to the path. There are also many trees, such as the banana trees along the path.
Choo Choo Trek 4: Sunset Way
victorwkf Says:
After going through the railway tunnel, the railway track has reached the small housing settlement of Sunset Way which is located off Clementi Road. You can see the housing flats of Sunset Way from here.
Choo Choo Trek 3: Tunnel
victorwkf Says:
After walking through the jungle area, you will reach a tunnel which runs underneath Clementi Road somewhere near the Clementi Neibourhood Park.
Choo Choo Trek 2: Jungle walk
victorwkf Says:
After walking along the tributary of the Pandan River, the path then goes into the tropical jungle. You can still see remains of the railway track on the ground. This portion of the trek will be tricky if the weather is wet.
Choo Choo Trek 1: The journey begins .....
victorwkf Says:
After diverging from the main railway track, the "Choo Choo Trek" official begins. After walking for a while, you will see a small tributary of the Pandan River (Sungei Pandan).
Signboard
victorwkf Says:
There is a nice signboard along the railway track which is worth taking a photo, giving directions to the railway stations in Singapore.
Walking on the railway tracks
victorwkf Says:
During the first part of the Choo Choo Trek which starts from the Bukit Timah Railway Transit Station, we have the first hand experience of walking along the live railway track before turning right into the disused railway track about 200 metres later.
Bukit Timah Railway Transit Station
victorwkf Says:
This small railway station is located near the junction between Bukit Timah Road and Clementi Road, and can ve accessed via a small path at the King Albert Park Area just below the railway bridge across Bukit Timah Road and Dunearn Road. The trains do not stop here anymore...
