The Post Office Building is a very modern building which is shapped like a boat. It is located just next to the Paya Lebar MRT metro station and consists of a shopping area with a food court as well as restaurants and fast food chains such as McDonalds. The majority of the building is occupied by the postal service of Singapore (this is their main headquarters).

The Joo Chiat Complex located at Geylang Serai is a popular shopping centre among the people staying around the region, especially the Malays. There are many stores selling clothings, curtians, health products, electronics etc.

The Tanjong Katong Complex is another famous shopping centre at Geylang Serai and it is located very near to the Paya Lebar MRT station. There is a Shop & Safe supermarket here as well as a Chinese Restaurant called Qian Xi (Paya Lebar) Restaurant and a Malay restuarant on the ground floor. This shopping centre has many shops selling shoes, curtains and watches.
