Raffles Hotel Long Bar: Home of the Singapore Sling

by Willettsworld

The cocktail drink Singapore Sling (of which my friend drank one) was said to have been created here by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon in the Hotel sometime around 1910. The earthy decor of this two-storey bar was inspired by the Malayan plantations of the 1920s. In addition to almost every alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions imaginable, the bar also serves traditional pub favourites that are available as a meal or snacks. A really interesting place, with peanut shells left scattered on the floor!Opening Hours:Hearty SnacksDaily - 12.00 noon to 6.00 pmTapasDaily - 6.00 pm to 10.00 pmCocktailsSunday to Thursday- 11.00 am to 12.30 amFriday, Saturday- 11.00 am to 1.30 am

Yello Jello: Retro and Live Music

by muratkorman

Yello Jello is a retro bar located in Clarke Quay. The live music performed by "John Molina & Krueger" attracts many locals to this bar. This celebrity local band has quite a fan base in Singapore and their performance is worth it. The bar itself is designed in retro style. Before live music, you can enjoy the retro songs from 80s. The prices for drinks are reasonable and service is fast. If you stay inside to watch the show, you may need a pullover to protect yourself from the freezing cold. However, there is also coaches outside where you can watch the people passing by in Clarke Quay. Casual

Divine Bar: Art-deco elegance

by muratkorman

Elegant art-deco design draws you inside, but there is much more than that. Divine Bar is locayed in the lobby of Gotham City (Parkview Square is called like this in Singapore). Live jazz music on the elevated stage is classy. However, music should be accompanied with drinks and this is where the fun starts. There is a 12 meter rack where all bottles are stored. If you order a bottle, a waitress dressed like an angel with wings and everything, will fly upto the rack and bring down your bottle. I am sure you will enjoy that view when the angel flies. Divine bar is not a cheap place, but it is definitely worth the money for the ambiance. The cocktails cost around 20-30 SGD and bottles start from 80 SGD onwards. No sandals

Blackpenny Pub and more: Boat Quay: Eat and Drink Like a Colonial

by AKtravelers

....I visited Boat Quay during the day, as a wayward walk on the way to see the Merlion. I actually got there just as the pubs and restaurants were opening up, so I wasn't even hungry enough to give them a sample. Still, the area looked sublime for eating and drinking the night away along the langid Singapore River. There ere old English pubs, just as you would expect from a city that was ruled by London until the early part of my lifetime (1965). But there were also ethnic restaurants of various sorts and even a bar called Eskis which looked like a refrigerator but was actually one of those sub-zero bars that i DEFINITELY would have stopped into if it weren't closed when I meandered through te neighborhood again on my way home.....Boat Quay used to be where all the wharehouses were along the busy Singapore River, and the docks in front of it were usually jammed with sampans. But, as I...

RedDot: Beer and live music

by muratkorman

Red Dot is a popular spot in Dempsey Road. This microbrewery is famous to be the first private in Singapore and many other followed its lead. You have several options of beers toselect from. The food menu is well designed to find side dishes or main courses to go well with beer. In the weekends, the place is packed with people. Without reservation, it can be dfficult to find a table. In addition to good food and beer, there is also live music. I think Red Dot is a good nightspot for a weekend night out. Smart casual

Timbre: Live music at its best

by muratkorman

Timbre at Arts House is just by the Singapore River in Boat Quay. Various live music performances take stage here during the week and Saturdays. From 8 pm to 1 am, you can enjoy the music with your food and drinks. A special promotion at the happy hour between 6 pm to 9 pm is a good option : Pizza of the day and 2 pints of beer at 30 SGD nett. Upto 9 pm you can get this promotion as live music starts. Timbre is a good spot for a night out with friends to enjoy music and drinks. Casual

Brauhaus: Good beer and live music

by muratkorman

Brahaus is for beer lovers. You can find a wide variety of German, Belgian and Asian beers. The food served is good enough to accompany your beer such as sausage plate and pork knuckles. There are outide tables and a pool table. Inside the bar you can enjoy the live music too. There are two Filipino guys having a wide repertoir and they sang every song I requested. Average cost per person will be around 35-50 SGD. For a night out to enjoy beer and live music, Brauhaus gets my recommendation. Casual
