Night Safari: Night Safari

by Avya

If you're looking for a great night out which meets this criteria:-1. No booze2. No smoke3. No loud music 4. Shopping is out of the question.5. Great for FAMILIESthen check out 'Night Safari'!!! Was just there last night ie. 1 March 2008Most people might think that 'hey, what's there to see at night? Won't the animals be hiding?' Well, most people are mistaken then coz you can see plenty! It's a wonderful family night out. Don't miss the fire eating show by the tribal people, don't miss the Creatures of the Night show (our presenter was Jeannie, she was hilarious!!) and you have to go on the tram ride otherwise you will miss seeing some cool endangered species animals.I suggest you follow the suggested itinerary 1 on Night Safari's website, I did and I'm glad I did.Admission is SGD 22 for adults and SGD 11 for children, but you'd need to go on the tram too which costs SGD 10 for adults...

Singapore Zoo: NIGHT SAFARI

by Rumi-fan

The Night Safari at SG Zoo is so worthwhile. Go a little later if you wish to avoid the family crowds or join them around 7.30pm. I went with my friend at around 9pm and it was so easy - no crowds, plenty of room and no frightened animals. In the night time under very subtle lighting which resembles moonlight the tram takes you half way around the park spotting the animals in night mode. At the halfway point you alight and take a walk around the enclosures seeing the animals up close. Then, back on the tram for the remainder of the tour. Lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes - they are all there. You will need to put on your "sense of humour hat" when in the tram because the tour guide so funny but actually serious. The tone and way they use words is like sitting in a kindergarten class. We just enjoyed the experience and chuckled to ourselves trying to assess which accent the guide was...

Ministry of Sound: Night out in Clarke Quay

by henryckv

The Ministry of Sound is one of the best clubs in Singapore. Comprising of 3 different areas with different music (Hip-hop/Rock/Pop, House/Club/Techno, and Eighties/Nineties), the club can cater to a variety of night clubbers. Each section is tastefully decorated and provided ample place to move around and dance. Smart Casual, No Sneakers

Dempsey Hill: Dinning/Chill-out at Dempsey

by trex101

Latest hot spot in Singapore for drinks/dinner. Recommend to drive or take a cab. Its too far to walk in and the road in is quite dark. (see location map on website) Crowded on the weekend nights.http://dempseyhill.com/main.htm Dressing - T+jeans+sneakers is sufficient. Call outlet if in doubt.

Insomnia: Wednesday night out

by muratkorman

For a country like Singapore where heavy taxes are applied on alcohol, cost of drinking becomes an important issue. Luckily, there is Insomnia for a solution. On Wednesday evenings, entrance is 20 SGD and you can drink unlimitedly from 9 pm to 11 pm while a nice rock band performs live on stage. For ladies, the same entrance fee applies but they can drink more until midnight. They serve bottled beer which is also a plus. Casual

Orchard Rd: Christmas lighting

by Tenzin

There is no better time to window shop along Orchard Rd than during the Christmas season. Forget about shopping itself, just window shopping is a pleasant enough experience although I'm sure the shopowners will not hesitate to strangle me for saying this. After all, they are not going to spend the most during this season if we were only to 'look see look see' without buying anything. But seriously pre Christmas is typically more expensive than post Christmas sales despite what they would want you to believe. With such beautiful decor to admire why waste time jostling with the crowd to buy what will be cheaper the week after?Sign up for the topless bus tour at about $10 each and enjoy the breeze and the view. Watch out for the overhead bridges though. Unless you wish to display your assets and the accoutrements that adorn it, take heed that Singapore has no place for anything else but...

Geylang: Ladies (and gentleman) of the night

by Tenzin

Sign up for a local tour around Geylang (pronounced 'gay lung') with Hotel 81. Geylang is notorious for its red light districts, famous for its heavenly food and infamous for its smelly durians. Confucius said,'Food and sex are but human nature'. Both seem to go nicely hand in hand. Stick to food; no risk of AIDS.Since oral sex is illegal even between married couples(see Tourist Traps), law-abiding Singaporeans may have given vent to their sexual frustration by seeking other means of titillating their taste buds via gastronomy. Singapore is thus justly famous for our finger-licking wonderful food until that too becomes illegal, who knows?Geylang never sleeps and the sights and smells will keep your eyes peeled without your caffeine fix. In the day visit the numerous Buddhist temples situated virtually neck to neck to the brothels. All the major traditions from Theravada, Mahayana to...
