Cafe Del Mar: Pathetic service

by marcus_dracul

Ok today I have gone to the worst cafe I ever went to.The newly opened Cafe Del Mar on Sentosa.I have never ever seen such pathetic service.First we decide to sit along the pool and sit down on chairs that the cushions were soaking wet. Next we decide to order drinks but the staff just walk around and do the typical Singaporean thing..they pretend not to see people. UNLESS it is some celebrity or some guy that the girls think they might have a chance with. The girl staff members are like SPGs in uniform. Ok after FINALLY stopping a staff member to order drinks, we placed our order. FOUR beers ok? A very simple order. Twenty minutes go by and no drinks. This is ONLY FOUR BEERS, how hard can it be right? The guy we placed the order with again did the typical thing of pretending not to notice people. So I stop a female staff member. ANOTHER big mistake as this gal is only interested in...

Guided Tours

by keeweechic

There are foyers on each level of the complex which offer refreshments. The foyer leading into the Concert Hall provides a wonderful view over the bay and around the city. There is a Roof Terrace where you can also get great views of Marina Bay.There are 45min guided tours around the theatres which operate daily. Monday – Friday 11.00am and 2.00pm and on the weekends at 11.00am. The tours take in the Theatre, Concert Hall and public areas.

State-of-the-Art

by keeweechic

The complex holds a 1,600 seat Concert Hall with state-of-the-art acoustics, a Theatre whose design is a four level horseshoe shape similar to great opera houses around the world and which holds 2,000 people. It also has Singapore’s largest stage. There is a Recital Studio which is an intimate theatre which holds 200 people and is suitable for small concerts and recitals. There is also an outdoor theatre for free weekend performances which can take 200 seated and 800 standing.

Esplanade Theatres On The Bay

by keeweechic

The Esplanade Theatres were officially opened in 2002 and their design has been quite the topic of discussion. Looking like two halves of a durian (They were later nicknamed The Durian), these theatres sit on 6 hectares of key waterfront. The complex not only holds theatres but also a mall which houses food outlets and a library.

Late night shows

by M.E.R.V

The Cathay Cinemas in Cineleisure along Orchard Road stays open through the wee hours in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays if you wish to catch a movie. There are movies as late as 4am for the after-party crowd. Movie prices start at $6.50 to $9 depending on the day of the week and you usually get the lastest blockbusters shown before any other Asian city does.

Clark Quay

by M.E.R.V

The launch of Clark Quay as a tourist spot in the 90s was a major failure but the redevelopment of the place has certainly done a great job in attracting back the crowd. It is extremely popular with the expat/tourist crowd with its lined of restaurants and bars along the river bank. It has became very much like a little wonderland for adults. There isn't much to discover but more like loads to see. The alfresco seating that certain restaurants have offers a great dining out experience by the Singapore River. Clark Quay is only minutes away from Boat Quay on foot and is also home to one of the top clubs in town - Ministry of Sound. Come only at night, it is certainly much livelier.
