Boat Quay

by M.E.R.V

Boat Quay is probably one of Singapore's most well known places. This stretch of shophouses have been revamped into a street of bars and restaurants, with seating by the riverside and a backdrop of the city's tallest buildings. Remember, this is a tourist spot after all, and the prices in restaurants are a bit overpriced. It is rather quiet in the day but by night it get super vibrant and bustling with people and noise combined. Stiff competition between the bar and most offer one for one during happy hour from 6-9pm. Lotsa tourist here for you to watch...if you like watching other tourist...lol!

Newton Circus Hawker Centre: Hungry at night?

by M.E.R.V

I don't know if I should have list this under a tourist trap or not but this will probably be more appropriate. Newton Circus has just been revamped. It has got a new look and is still a popular outdoor eating spot for locals and tourist alike and it stays open til the wee hours in the morning on weekends. It gets exceptionally busy during the weekend so finding a table may be a bit of a wait. However, as soon as your enter, there will be hoards of shop assistants offering to find you a seat. If you are not a seafood person, then that's no good and you should just sit yourself down. They will then hand you a menu and expect you to order from them. There has been bad press about these shop assistants in the papers and they often end up quarrelling with one another just trying to get a customer. They will probably give you evils if you don't order from them but there's not much more they...

Orchard Towers

by M.E.R.V

This place is notoriously well known to sailors and single men visiting Singapore. Please do visit Orchard Towers if you need a nice "date" for the night... This place practically comes alive every night. It's not a red light district but the girls want you so bad! In fact, they don't care if your fat or thin, or the size of your peepee, they only want your pennies to share! Some are Indonesians, some are Thais, some are Filipinos and some are well basically men in dressed up as women so pick your mix carefully and have a rockin' date!

Tanjong Pagar

by Ewingjr98

The Tanjong Pagar area, just south of Chinatown, has a little of everything, but most of the nightlife was Japanese-style entertainment such as Karaoke (called KTV in Singapore), live singers, and "comfort bars." By comfort bars I mean the bars where you buy a lady who works at the bar an expensive drink just to sit and chat for a limited amount of time. Usually the ladies will pretend to show interest in you just to keep the money coming. These same style of bars exist throughout Asia, but in Singapore, they are more classy than other countries. We stumbled into a bar called The 50s that had Chinese women singing then going to the tables to entice men for these pricey drinks. What a waste of money... we didn't stay here too long. According to the Singapore Straits-Times, Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan owns this building and often comes here when he's in town. Shirt and tie recommended.

Club Street & the Chaser Bar

by Ewingjr98

One day while eating kaya toast, my friend started up a conversation with a girl from Singapore. He asked where the best nightlife spots were in the city. She told us about places we had already heard of -- primarily the areas along the river. She also mentioned an area called Club Street as a good spot so we headed that direction one night. Club street is a relatively quiet street of restaurants and bars. Nothing fancy, it is really a place where only locals hang out. We went to a bar called Chaser. The bartender was great -- we chatted with us, and he practiced flipping and tossing bottles as he poured drinks. We played a few games of pool, he gave us some more nightlife tips, and we left after about an hour.

China Jump -- CHIJMES

by Ewingjr98

With a dance floor, live music, huge bar and plenty of tables, China Jump is consistently one of Singapore's best night spots. They also have a great menu with pasta, steaks, seafood, chicken, lamb, duck, and pork along with unique dishes such as ostrich steaks. Meals range from about S$18 to S$30 (US$11 - US$18).We arrived after dinner, paid our S$20 cover charge (which includes one drink), and bellied up to the bar. We only spent about an hour here, drinking rum & Coke, listening to the band and watching the well-dressed locals enjoying a night out. This is a very popular spot and for good reason.

CHIJMES

by Ewingjr98

CHIJMES (Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus... ) is the best nightlife area in Singapore. This two-story complex contains bars, pubs, restaurants, and dance clubs of all kinds. The best dance club is called China Jump, and we really enjoyed the Irish pub called Father Flanagan's. The restaurants include Italian, Turkish, Spanish, Latin, pizza, Japanese, Vietnamese, and others, most in a very classy, even elegant setting. The U-shaped Chijmes building surrounds an old church... the building used to be a religious school that was built in the 1850s. The restoration and urban renewal that has taken place at CHIJMES unique and amazing.

Father Flannigan's -- CHIJMES

by Ewingjr98

Father Flanagan's is a nice Irish Pub on the downstairs of the CHIJMES complex is central Singapore. They have Guinness -- and surprisingly Kilkenny -- on tap. I was there on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. Pints of Kilkenny were on the high side at S$12.26.

drinking in the street: UK Style: harbour

by kranstonakov

we quickly found out that going out for a drink in Singaporre is not viable if your a backpacker, its ridiculously exoensive and the clubs are crap! wat we did was head to the 7/11, get some cold beers and sit out in the harbour, next to all the bars and clubs. Get blitzed and then start talking to the local girls (who are gorgeous) football tops and shorts, baseball caps optional!

Companions vs Escorts/Prostitutes

by vyxxyn

Let's face it. Some foreigners (not necessarily Caucasian) need a quick fix. Here are some suggestions where female companions are *generally* more willing:- Four Floors of Whores (ILLEGAL):Orchard Towers. Girls are from Thailand, Philippines, Russia, Cambodia. No Singapore girl in her right mind will ever lower herself to hang out, let alone work here!If you're looking remotely Asian, girls will avoid you! The beer is expensive and the girls are too, it may be cheaper to fly to Thailand for this. All about it here http://www.warrenssingapore.com/orchard_towers.htm- Geylang (LEGAL):A fav haunt for local Chinese men. Prostitutes are mostly China nationals in the residential-looking houses, shophouses and dingy lounges. Want somewhere private and closeby? You'll be spoilt for choice! Most hotels in the vincinity charge by the hour for your convenience!- Desker Road (LEGAL): In Little...
