Take lightweight stylish clothing and most of all comfy walking shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking.
There is nothing that you cannot find in Singapore. You may have to go to a few different places but you will find it.
Be sure to take your camera and lots of memory. You can buy film anywhere. You can also get a good deal on a camera, if you are looking for one. Memory is expensive and batteries are a different size than my camera uses. I always thought all AA batteries were the same volt, not so.
There is nothing that you cannot find in Singapore. The problem is knowing where to look. Most groceries and health items are in the basement of the shopping complexes. Leave a Comment

Forget about wearing your old sundress and socks with sandals all the time. The locals here are quite well-dressed albeit on the casual side. Lots of places over here are also notoriously over "air-conditioned " ( yes, even on public buses ) .
Singapore is clean to the point of being sterile. No need to worry about topical diseases save the ever present mosquito in places where there is dense vegetation ( parks, beaches, etc )
Buy all your camera equipment here. Try the shops at Far East Plaza. I learnt a major lesson - tried to purchase a Sony memory stick in Norway only to find out it was triple the price over there!
Beach - No nudity allowed. A Jap chef was once arrested for bathing in the buff.
Plastic - most major credit cards are accepted here. The island is also littered with lots of atms even at odd places like hdb shops. all atms have the cirrus facility so you won't have to hunt around. Leave a Comment

Since SG is near the equator, the sun can be rather glaring in the afternoon. For the fairer readers, don't forget to pack in sunblock especially if u intend to spend long hours under the sun!
I think it's a common mistake to OVERPACK! Worry not for it really convenient to buy all sorts of stuff in Singapore.
For those who r not used to the warm b humid weather here, do get St Luke's Prickly Heat Powder [available in most grocery stores n supermarkets] to beat the heat!! As a matter of fact, I use it everyday after shower!! :) Leave a Comment

What I learned from this experience: When traveling with someone you live with (in my case, my husband) pack half of each of your things in one bag and half in the other. That way you both have things to wear if one pice of luggage is wayward. I have done this on every trip since my Singapore experience.

Take extra luggage. This place is a shoppers paradise.
Light cotton is a must Singapore can be very humid. Also an umbrella for the rainy season!

Since Singapore is located near the equator, you can expect that the country is warm and humid. Usually tempature ranges from 24 degrees to 34 degrees. So light clothing is advisable. Do bring along an umbrella in case it rains. Especially during Nov to Jan. But then again, nowadays the weather system is going a bit haywire, so it is hard to say. :p (Additional point: For adults in Singapore, raincoat is not the common 'rain-blocking weapon'. Usually school children are the ones who wear raincoat. Adults usually use umbrella.) Leave a Comment

It's very very humid, so take some cool clothing! Skirts definitely beat trousers - less sticky. The sun is very powerful, so don't forget the sun cream. We were warned to take a jacket, due to the air conditioning being a bit severe, but to be honest, they stayed in the suitcase for the whole stay!
Comfortable shoes are a must - we did a lot of walking around.
Oh yes, and take an umbrella - I've never seen such heavy rain!! Leave a Comment

A big one is good... in case you want to go on a shopping spree in Singapore. There are sales galore every now and then! Anyway, if there's not enough space in your bags, you could always buy one eh? ;p
Bring light clothing -- it's almost always hot and humid here... even if it rains, it doesn't get to be less than 25 degrees Celsius or so.
There's no need for any special shoes -- I suppose walking sandals like Teva's are a good idea or walking shoes.
Anything's fine, really!
No need to worry -- it's easily available at shopping centres, 7-eleven shops, provision shops and just about anywhere...
There are many pharmacies like Guardian and Apex located conveniently in shopping areas, so you don't have to worry about it too. If you're in the heartlands, you could also go to a Chinese Medical Hall to get toiletries and medical supplies.
Lots of places selling film and batteries, and other photography paraphernalia.
Check out Sim Lim Square for photo and video equipment. Sim Lim Square is located near the town area, and any taxi driver can bring you there easily enough.
If you're looking for computer equipment, you could also try Funan Centre. The nearest MRT station to this place is City Hall -- it's just a short walk away. Again, look at the site maps located within the station, ask the station supervisors or any passer-by...
Another place you could try looking for electronic equipment at is Mustafa Centre located in Little India -- they have some really good prices too! Leave a Comment
