An umberella is useful!

by TracyG

I find it easier to carry things in a pack, particularly if you are planning to travel overland. However, I have also used a holdall, and that worked fine. It gets very hot and humid all year round, so anything that is breathable and light weight. Also it is a must to take at least one smart outfit and shoes for nights out and restaurants. You really shouldn't have any health problems. So the usually first aid kit should suffice. Anything that you do need, you should have no problems buying. A photo paradise - absolutely no problems in getting anything (also probably things that you have never seen before!) It is also a great place to think about buying a new camera..... A rainjacket could come in useful. An umbrella will come in handy at any time of the year.

Batteries are different size

by kyoub

Take what ever you want. Most hotels will let you store your luggage there while you go elsewhere. Some of the planes to Malaysia, for instance, let you have limited weight so we leave our extra stuff at the hotel until we get back. Take lightweight stylish clothing and most of all comfy walking shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking. There is nothing that you cannot find in Singapore. You may have to go to a few different places but you will find it. Be sure to take your camera and lots of memory. You can buy film anywhere. You can also get a good deal on a camera, if you are looking for one. Memory is expensive and batteries are a different size than my camera uses. I always thought all AA batteries were the same volt, not so. There is nothing that you cannot find in Singapore. The problem is knowing where to look. Most groceries and health items are in the basement of the...

Tropical gear

Suitcase or trolley... it's all up to you. But try to bring a rucksack for carrying your gadgets and drinks around. Light and airy clothing; comfy shoes: exploring the city on foot is tiresome but worthwhile Bring something against diarrhea... just in case. Also: Sun protection! Camera and lots of film rolls... or a big memory card for your digi-cam! If you have time to explore Singapore's lovely beaches, bring your swimsuit along.

Map and Small Towel

by traveldream

Wear clothes from fabric that absorb sweat - cotton clothes . The climate is hot and humid, so don't miss a small towel when you go out for a day trip. Bring your face-cleaning foam together with you on a long day trip. You might get sweaty and greasy and need to freshen up a bit during your trip. Bring a map that includes the transportation system - you can get it free when you arrive at the airport. It helps you planning your day trip routes and which transportation you will use. And last but not least, drinking water .

It's hot, hot, hot!!

by funkylian

Light clothings please. This is sunny tropical climate, with occasional showers. Go from as bare minimal (sandals, shorts, tank top, shades & cap) to simple casual (loafers, jeans, collared/round-neck tee & shades). Most hotels/bars/clubs are fine with simple casual as described above.Pack a shirt n slacks too, just in case. (Prospective mum-in-law??) No worries as common toiletries n medications are available at pharmacies/personal care stores (Guardian, Watson's etc). Digicam for sure ;-) Good to have a bottle of water with you wherever you go! Expect to walk a lot but u'll enjoy it!

Singapore Essentials

Singapore's weather is humid, so bring lots of light clothing. Shorts, polo shirts or t-shirts are ideal for when you're out seeing the sights. Also, bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes.Bringing swim wear is also a good idea. You'll want to take a swim in your hotel's pool after seeing some of the tourist spots in the humid weather. It might also be a good idea to bring some of those small two-way radios that Motorola makes. Get some that have a power output of 1.5 to 2 watts so they have a range of several miles. These will come in handy when you get separated from your group or partner.

by jil_coleslaw

backpackers/leisure travelers bring the medium bags/luggage is ok as Singapore is not a place for long stay and you can get everything you want an umbralla, vests and shorts and sandels it's ok ah....actually I bring my own films and digital camera, I am not really the price. but developing photos is just as same as HK: US$6-8/HK$50-70 per roll for 1 hour no comment

Great Singapore Sale!

by bpacker

Come every June/ July, there is a giant sale across the country. Many shops offer hige discount for their wares but the real bargains are actually found outside of Orchard Road. Try shopping at the Marina Bay Area instead ... Forget about wearing your old sundress and socks with sandals all the time. The locals here are quite well-dressed albeit on the casual side. Lots of places over here are also notoriously over "air-conditioned " ( yes, even on public buses ) . Singapore is clean to the point of being sterile. No need to worry about topical diseases save the ever present mosquito in places where there is dense vegetation ( parks, beaches, etc ) Buy all your camera equipment here. Try the shops at Far East Plaza. I learnt a major lesson - tried to purchase a Sony memory stick in Norway only to find out it was triple the price over there! Beach - No nudity allowed. A Jap chef was...
