Heed all warning signs by imstress Although Ubin is a peaceful and quiet place, do take the usual precautions. Do obey all traffic signs and rules. When cycling do ensure your bicycle is in good working condition before setting off. Use only designated roads and tracks, and keep to the left, in a single file. Look out for all warning signs. Don't swim in areas not designated for swimming. Quarries and sluice gates are particularly treacherous places. Water from public toilets and wells are not suitable for drinking or bathing. When you first arrive on Pulau Ubin, make straight for the information kiosk to pick up an indispensible free map of the island. The information kiosk is located in a wooden hut just to the right of the jetty. The free fold-out map has a detailed diagram of the roads, beaches, quarries and marshland on the island, as well as showing where all the huts are located. These huts, each with a different name, act as good markers for determining where on the island you are. As well as the map, the leaflet provides various information about life on the island, wildlife, activities and visitor guidelines. There is also a member of staff available at the information kiosk to whom you can direct any questions. Leave a Comment

There are a number of wooden huts on the island of Pulau Ubin which are marked on the free tourist map and which act as good markers for getting your bearings. These small huts provide shade from the hot sun (or heavy rain - both are equally likely!) and have benches around the perimeter at which you can enjoy a picnic. With only a few homes selling refreshments outside of the main village, it is a good idea to take food and drink with you - and the huts are the best place to stop and enjoy it en-route. Some of these huts are near beaches (eg Kedidi Hut and Chamar Hut near Noordin Beach), while others (maybe a dozen in total) are dotted around the island, often where two "roads" meet.
