Visit the Ubin Village Head's house.
There used to be an Ostrich in his backyard.
The Ostrich came as a pair while it was in Ubin Resort. But its other half ate up part of a bicycle and died.
The Resort people gave the survivor to the Headman. But due to Bird Flu, the Ostrich was sent to Jurong Bird Park.

Come weekends, the business of the bicycle rental shop booms.
There are many bicycle rental shops around Ubin Jetty.
If you have decided to rent a bike, do rent it near the jetty.
Cost per bike is as low as $2 per bike per day.
We rented the normal bike from Comfort and was charged $3 for the whole day. If you want better bike, go for the Mountain Bikes at $5 a day. Do ask for a basket to put your stuff as it is free of charge.

Mamam Beach was reinforced by wooden railing and seawall and ringed after it almost met with serious soil erosion in 1999.
There are benches and tables and a nearby toilet. Campers can just camp at the beach by as there is no need for a camping permit.
However, campers are advised to inform the police officers at the Pulau Ubin Police Post.

Bukit Puaka is the tallest point on Ubin.
At 74m tall, it overlooks the Ubin Granite Quarry with scenic views of Singapore and Malaysia.
The entrance to the trail up the hill is not marked so as to discourage visitors to the narrow and steep trail.
There are 4 stations along the trail, each with a different view of the quarry and surrounding areas.

The Wayang Stage at the centre of Ubin Town has had a colourful history. The stage is sometimes used to house large dinners in Ubin Town and is the focus of other major events on the island.
The Wayang Stage comes alive in the Seventh Lunar Month or Hungry Ghost Festival.
Wayang or Chinese opera performances are held, with empty seats left at the front for the dead spirits. This is not a special performance put up for the public, but a part of the way of life of the residents of Ubin.

Like the Noordin Beach, Mamam Beach is one of the popular beach along the north coast of Pulau Ubin. Also like Noordin Beach, it is unfortunately rather dirty with litter nowadays. However, local people still like to visit it during the weekends, and some even camp overnight.

This is one of the popular beach along the north coast of Pulau Ubin, but unfortunately it is rather dirty with litter nowadays. This beach was better during my younger days in the 1980s where I used to visit it quite often as a scout.

There used to be several granite quarries at Pulau Ubin but they are abandoned now. This results in water filling up these quarries causing them to be very beautiful naturally. When walking or cycling along the path leading to the west of the island, you will come across one or two of these quarries.

This telephone booth is found near the jetty. I believed this is the last of such a booth in Singapore. In the 1970s and early 1980s, this kind of public telephone booths is common around the main island but the design of the booth has been changed sometime in the late 1980s.

While cycling along the path of Jalan Endut Senin and also near Mamam Beach, you will pass by some mangrove swamps, these are one of the few remaining mangrove swamps in Singapore as most of the swamps on the mainland had been cleared for residential development.
