Kekek Quarry

After visiting the Ubin Quarry, continue cycling til you see two different paths. Take the path on the right, Jalan Wat Siam and continue cycling to the end of the path. There a fence that has been partially torn down by some trespassers probably. You can 'sneak' into this quarry from the opening and have some nice views of the Kekek Quarry. This is the smallest quarry of Pulau Ubin. Refrain from swimming in any quarry. The water is misleadingly calm. It is dangerous as the water is deep.. what i heard was it was as deep as the length of a few soccer fields!!!

Mountainbike rent

When you arrive on Pulau Ubin (PU) you will come across several different mountainbike rental shops.

You can rent a bike for the whole day, and it will only cost you around 5/6 dollars.

TIP:

When you arrive on the island, walk down the pier, turn right and go to the information desk. The guy standing behind this desk can provide you with a very good map of the island, much better than the ones you get at the bike rental shops, and: Free of Charge!!!

Coco Tree

This is the coco tree, amazing right? The fruit grown out from the trunk instead of the branch. Coco is used to make chocolate, milo etc. If you see the price of milo rising, then the price of coco definitely rising.

Saw the process of getting the coco before in Raub, a small town in Pahang. The ripe coco have to be peeled off and dried under the sun. Very smelly.

Animal House

It is nearly impossible to see a wild boar if you discovered the island yourself because they come out at night. To see a real one, visit the animal house. The house is just next to Mamam Beach. Cycle along the jungle trail until you reach animal house. Not much animal there, only a wild boar, 2 peacocks and a few wild rabbits.

If somebody tell you you could swim in Noordin Beach, dont expect too much. The beach is small and dirty. You wont want to swim inside. The location of the beach is at central- north of the island. You need to passes National Police Cadet Corps Campsite before you reach the reach.

Siam square is located at north-west of Ubin, at the end of Jalan Wat Siam. The last part of the road is a little bit uphill but you dont need special cycle skill to cope it. If you dont have the strength to cycle up, just walk and puch your bicycle up.

Henna was used to apply on hair last time. Nowadays, we see people using henna to draw their hands or body as a kind of decoration, the color is actually get from the plant. Usually if you pluck a henna leaf, rub with you finger, after 10 second you will discovered color change in your finger. However, this henna plant in Ubin is unable to do that because-- wrong species is bought!

We was told that great plantain is a kind of medicine treating skin. If you have any pimples, apply this on your face and the pimples will go without scars. It is still practice in Indonesia. Please correct me if it is not now..
